Wiggin Street Veterans Day Flag Ceremony 2021

Better Together

Families,

All of us at Wiggin Street want to thank all Veterans for serving our country and helping keep us safe and free. Our students had the opportunity to be a part of a longtime tradition at Wiggin Street. If you are an alumni, you may remember having flag ceremonies while you were in elementary school.

It was so nice to gather as a Wiggin Street family which has been difficult to do over the past couple of years. We are blessed to get to spend time with your children each day.

Have a great weekend!

Warmly,

Christy Grandstaff

November 11 & 12th please help support our amazing teachers and a local business by shopping at Paragraphs Bookstore downtown Mt Vernon! Our teachers have wish lists of books they would love to have for their classrooms, or you can purchase for yourself and a percentage of the sale comes back to our School! Happy Shopping!!

Food for the Hungry

Wiggin Street will be participating in the annual Food for the Hungry drive from November 15-19. Each class will have a collection box. Students can contribute non-perishable food or monetary donations. Once donation boxes and envelopes are collected, all money is "converted" to a "can" count, $1=4 cans. The classroom with the most "cans" donated per student will win a gift card for a delivered Pizza Party (at a date of the teacher's choice).

The student(s) in each school who donates the largest number of "cans" (based on the same calculation) will be offered the opportunity to be on the LIVE broadcast with other schools' winners on the day of the Drive (December 10th) and will receive a good bag.

Winter Weather

Please remember that students will go outside on days where the temperature with wind chill accounted for is above 20°f. Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Coats, hats, and gloves are necessary at this time of the year. Boots are required for playing in the snow. If you need assistance with winter outerwear for your child, please contact our school, and we will happily find warm clothes for them.

Lost and Found

With winter weather approaching, we are getting a collection of sweatshirts and jackets. If you are missing items from your child's wardrobe, please remind them to check out our Lost and Found located at the top of the cafeteria steps.

Also, please label all clothing, lunchboxes, water bottles, etc. We will try to get it to the owner before making donations.
