Graduation Updates
Stone Bridge is excited that we will be celebrating the Class of 2021 with one graduation ceremony all together at Stone Bridge High School! We value and appreciate your patience as we have worked through changing guidelines to plan graduation and other events. There are four Senior events happening this spring.
Senior Awards Ceremony - Virtual
- The Senior Awards ceremony will be a virtual slide show presentation that will be posted on the school website the week of graduation.
Senior Pickup & Breakfast - Monday, June 7th, from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- Students may pick up their Senior regalia, including caps, gowns, and honor cords, from a drive-through set up in the bus loop.
- Seniors should also turn in their school Chromebooks, textbooks, library books, and any other school items at the this drive-through event.
- The Project Graduation Team will host a breakfast during the same time; more details will be coming soon.
Graduation Rehearsal & Senior Picnic - Thursday, June 10th, from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- All seniors are required to attend the graduation practice at 9:00 AM. Following the practice, there will be a senior picnic from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, sponsored by the Project Graduation Team. More information will be coming soon.
Graduation Ceremony - Friday, June 11th, at 7:00 PM
- The ceremony will be in the SBHS stadium. It will occur rain or shine. There will be a possibility of an earlier ceremony the same day if severe weather is predicted for the evening. We will provide 24-hours notice of any changes due to weather. The last option would be to move the graduation to Saturday morning. My goal is to keep the event on schedule at 7 PM June 11th.
- Each graduate will receive five tickets for the event. The ceremony will be live-streamed for off-site viewing for additional family members and friends.
- Each graduate’s family will sit together in a 10-foot circle. Seating will be provided in the bleachers and on the track. Families will not be required to bring their own chairs.
- Graduates will have the opportunity to take photos at photo stations on the school campus on a rotating schedule. We will be sending a sign-up sheet soon for graduates to sign up for photos on June 7th and 8th.
- Parking will be limited at SBHS so we encourage families to carpool or walk if possible. Overflow parking is available at Trailside Middle School.
Two SBHS teams participated in the Odyssey of the Mind program this year and placed first and second at the Virginia State tournament last week. Because of the pandemic, the teams met virtually this year and had to submit videos to compete against other high schools across the state.
Salome Augusto, Erin Mills, Charlotte Peter, and Samantha Shomo competed in the "Problem 3: Classics... Omer and the Beanstalk" group. They finished in second place.
Katie Reif, Alex Reif, Joshua Poore, Alexander Lloyd, Evan Smirnoff and Bryan Smirnoff competed in the "Problem 5: Superhero Socks- A Cliffhanger Beginning" group. They finished in first place.
Both teams have been invited to compete against teams from around the world at the Odyssey of the Mind World Tournament later this spring. They are all creative, funny students that have worked hard for this achievement. Thanks for all of your hard work!
Vision & Hearing Screenings
The Health Office is conducting vision and hearing screenings Tuesday-Friday for hybrid students who are in 10th grade or new to the county. Please remember to bring your glasses to school if you wear them. Thanks!

Stone Bridge Rowing Team Erg-a-thon!
The Stone Bridge Rowing Team's final fundraiser for the 2021 season – our annual Erg-A-Thon – will take place on Saturday, April 24th from 9am-3pm. What's an Erg-A-Thon, you ask? It's an event where our athletes raise money as the coaches challenge them to row on ergometers (rowing machines) for the most meters. The Erg-A-Thon will take place in the Stone Bridge High School front parking lot facing Claiborne Parkway. Athletes will attend in shifts by boat and attempt to row 6,000 meters each! Everyone in the SBHS community is welcome to come by and cheer the athletes on and perhaps even donate to the team, which can be done via:
- Cash or check (made out to “SBRC”) on-site
- Online payment through the integrated PayPal link in this form - https://form.jotform.com/202398052427152
- PayPal directly via https://stonebridgerowingclub.org/donate-to-sbrc/ (please include any Athlete’s name in the comment field, if desired)
- Health checks will be completed, temperatures will be taken, and facemasks will be worn at all times. Hope to see you there!
