Technical Theatre Workshops
The Sonic World of Sound Foley
What's that Sound?
Sound design is all around us. You might not have noticed it, but it's everywhere. In every live show we see, in every television show or movie we watch, in every video game we play; sound design is everywhere. But how are these soundscapes created? Where do those sounds even come from? Join us for this week's technical theatre workshop as we explore sound design and sound creation!
No experience is necessary!
Event Information
The Sonic World of Sound Foley
Students will learn about the basics of sound design, including the ways sounds can add to depth and dimension to a production. Also included in this conversation will be how soundscapes are utilized in film and video games. In order to best explore how a designer creates a unique soundscape, students will be familiarized with sound foley techniques. Finally, students will be given a selection of objects and will be asked to use those objects to create a soundscape for a short scenario.
