Caregiver Update
Watch us SOAR!
Dear Caregivers,
Hope everyone enjoyed experiencing all of the weather in one weekend! As my kids described it, Saturday was "like a summer day" and then Sunday it was a "blustery, wet day." We are looking forward to seeing many of you this week for conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. Since it's an unusual week, we decided to end the week with a play day! Friday afternoon all of the classes with have free play time. Students are allowed to bring in toys or games from home as long as they can carry them in their backpacks on the bus. No electronics are allowed. This is a chance for kids to simply play with each other.
The next two weeks are a little unusual for our students with half days and no school days. During the week of Nov. 6, we have a no school day on Tuesday as all of the teachers have a professional development day. And then there is another no school day on Friday in honor of Veteran's Day. As a way to celebrate our shoe collection community service project, and because it's a different kind of a week, we will be having a cardboard creation day on Thursday, Nov. 9! See down below for more info.
As I mentioned in my last updates, we will be having a Halloween parade outside the morning of October 31 at 9:15. Students will be able to wear costumes for the parade and then will need to change immediately after the parade so that the costumes won't be a distraction during the rest of the school day. Please make sure to stay on the sidewalks all around the school if you are coming to watch. Please help me share with your child some costume expectations:
Costumes are optional.
Costumes should be school appropriate:
1. Easy to take on and off - no blow up costumes please
2. Respectful in nature - no masks
3. Costumes that depict violence, blood, gore are not allowed - no weapons
4. No face paint
We want to be respectful to the families who do not celebrate Halloween. If you do not want your child to wear a costume or participate in the Halloween parade, we will be having some fun educational games in Mrs. McGovern's classroom first thing in the morning during the parade. Please let us know if you would prefer to have your child participate in morning games.
Sincerely,
Liz Garden
Clough Principal
P.S. There's still time to send in Literacy O'Lanterns to be displayed at tomorrow morning's parade! And as a reminder this is our last week to collect shoes for our shoe drive that the PTO is conducting. Send in those gently used shoes! Let's see how many more we can collect in this final week!
Cardboard Creation Day is Coming!
We would love to have some parent volunteers come in and help us on this fun day! If you are able to come volunteer for about 45 minutes on Thursday, Nov. 9 sign up here.
