Notes and Reminders
2024 Noon Pursuits for Grades 1 & 2 š
At Daniel Warren, it is exciting to work with Rye Neckās newest learners. They are open, eager to learn, and excited by the discoveries they make in their Kindergarten, First and Second grade classrooms each and every day. Daniel Warren students are in their initial stages of their learning lives, and often much of what they are encountering in their classrooms is new and in many ways āenrichedā learning just by the very nature that the content and practices have not been experienced by the students prior to their arrival at Daniel Warren.
That being said, it is during these early years of learning that it is so vital that opportunities for enrichment be woven within and outside of the classroom in ways that involve each and every student. For our students, we have this wonderful window to provide enriched experiences that allow and encourage further exploration, intrinsic curiosity, and lifelong learning.
We are delighted to have the opportunity to expand on already existing programs, such as our Wonder Studio and the PTSA After School Enrichment Clubs. Noon Pursuits is a DW "lunch and learn" model that will offer a menu of guided activities geared to strike an interest or connect to an already existing interest of students who elect to participate. This is for our current first and second grade students. Participation is optionable. A student should only sign up if they are interested in participating.
Dates: Cycle 1: 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15 (THURSDAYS) Cycle 2: 2/29, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21 (THURSDAYS)
Time: 11:50-12:50, Students bring their home or school lunch to the noon pursuit. Time will be built in to eat before they engage in activities. *Please note that students will not be joining their class at lunch or recess if they sign up for a Noon Pursuit.
Teacher: DW staff members
Please see the descriptions of the seven Pursuit offerings HERE. We will do our best to accommodate all students who are interested, and their choices. Students who sign up will be placed in one pursuit of their choice. Please sign up for each interested cycle. A student can sign up for either one or both!

Spotlight on Learning
Students found two numbers that make a ten in a problem with three addends...and then used that to solve the problem!
Students represented the word problem by using drawings and a number sentence.
A Note form the School Nurse~š¤§
It's cold and flu season! According to the NYS Health Services website, parents should follow these guidelines when determining when their children should not be in school.
Persistent fever greater than 100Ā° degrees orally, including a fever that requires administration of medication such as Tylenol or Motrin
Vomiting or diarrhea
Significant cough that makes a child feel uncomfortable or disrupts class
Sore throat that is severe, accompanied by fever or feeling ill
Red, teary, itchy eyes that distract child from learning
Discolored nasal discharge, accompanied by facial pain or headache
Ear pain or drainage from the ear
Headache, especially with fever
Any condition you think may be serious or contagious to others
Children should be fever free (without the use of fever reducing medicine), symptom free and feeling well for at least 24 hours before returning to school after illness. To report an absence/illness, please email: dwattendance@ryeneck.org the morning of the absence. A doctorās note will be requested for any student who has been absent for 5 consecutive days, upon return to school.
Important Traffic Notification
- As we know, arrival and dismissal is a busy time around Daniel Warren. It's important that our traffic line does not impact our neighbors. Please be sure NOT TO BLOCK access to driveways.
- Also a reminder for those that drive to have a sign in the window listing the child's first and last name, along with their class. This greatly expedites how we call and escort students to cars.
- Do not make a U-turn on Harrison and cut into the line. Please use surrounding streets and join the end on Harrison Avenue.
THANK YOU! š
