"Bloom Where You Are Planted"
News from the Principal
Greetings Knight Families,
It was an awesome week at KES last week. We had a Book Fair, Field Trips, Field Day, Bike Rodeo, GT Showcase, Art Show, Wax Museum, Knighting Ceremony, Principal for the Day, Coach for the Day, and Senior Stroll honoring our Boerne and Champion HS seniors! The wonderful memories made through all of these events are treasured. We appreciate the support of our parents in making these events successful. We have a lot of be proud of as we end this school year.
Looking ahead to this week:
Our Science Fair is open to any and all who would like to come and see the wonderful students displays on Monday at 5:30 in the cafeteria.
Our talent show will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd for K-2 from 9:00-10:00 and for 3rd-5th from 1:30-2:30. Parents of students who are participating are welcome to attend the shows.
Classroom parties will be held on Wednesday May 24th. These parties have been planned by each grade level and will take place at different times of the day. Please check with your child's teacher if you have any questions regarding the parties.
We will send our 5th graders off to Middle School on Thursday May 25th at 9:00 as we celebrate them in their promotion ceremony. This event will be held in the cafeteria. This is also an early release day for all students.
Information regarding yearbooks is listed below if you have not received yours or are interested in purchasing one.

Tardys
It is very important that students get to school by 7:35 am each morning to begin the school day. The doors to the main hallway will lock at 7:40 am each morning. If your child arrives after 7:40 am you will need to sign them in at the front office. It is equally important that students be at school for the entire day, so they do not miss out on instruction. Being on time will contribute to their continued academic success.
Attendance
It is our goal that students be in school unless they are sick or there is an emergency. If students must be absent ensure that a doctor's excuse or note from parents explaining the reason for absence is turned into the front office. Excuses can also be e-mailed to UG_KESattendance@boerneisd.net.
We will be implementing various measures to follow-up with students on absences this school year, they are as follows:
- Phone call home from teacher at 3 absences.
- Teacher will conference with student at 5 absences.
- Phone call home from administration at 8 absences.
- Attendance letter sent home and parent conference with administration at 10 absences.
It is imperative that students be present whenever possible, when students are absent or tardy they are missing out on instructional minutes.
Lunch Visitors
Please note the following procedures that will be in place to help this process go smoothly.
- Visitors MUST check in at the front office by presenting their ID and obtain a visitor's pass. Visitors MUST check out at the front office and exit through main doors.
- Visitors will be able to eat with their student(s) on the stage in the cafeteria. No friends or classmates will be able to join.
- You are welcome to bring food for your student(s), but it cannot be shared with other classmates.
- Visitors will NOT be able to walk with students back to their class after lunch.
