Akers' Updates
December 6, 2019
School News
Field day will be postponed to Spring. Coach, A-team, and I are working on the perfect date and I'm already predicting no rain! (FINGERS CROSSED)
STAFF UPDATE:
We are thrilled to share that we have some new staff members joining our team!
Please welcome:
Zachary Grigsby - PPCD
Jada McCauley - 2nd Grade
Allison Bernier - 3rd Grade
Jessica McKnight - para supporting PPCD students in Pre-K
and we will have Kayla Hold - long-term subbing in PPCD/Pre-K full day
Kayla Hold - long term subbing for PPCD
Classroom Updates:
The 3rd grade flex space will be transformed into Allison Bernier's classroom starting Monday and the 2nd grade flex space will be transformed into Jada McCauley's classroom beginning on Monday. Jill Fondren will be setting up her classroom in the portable for our full-day Pre-K starting in January.
Because 2nd and 3rd grade will now have classes in their flex spaces, please relocate whole-group restrooming breaks to the main hall - red or black rather than right outside their classrooms (which only have a partition to block out any noise).
Also, many of you utilize the 2nd grade hallways to access recess and WIN time. Please consider using alternative hallways such as the red or black hallways or the small hall that leads to the hard top for recess and WIN time due to the partition not being a great sound barrier for Ms. McCauley's students who are now in the 2nd grade flex area. Thank you!
Morning Arrival
RSVP for Holiday Party
Holiday Party Info from PTO
This year, the theme of the Rennell Christmas parties will be Ugly Sweater! The PTO will be providing the following items for each classroom:
- 4 x photo backgrounds and photo stick props at each for main/shared halls
- Ugly Sweater ballot box and ballets for each classroom to vote on the ugliest sweater/craziest outfit
- Ugly Sweater beaded necklace for each student
- Medals for each classroom contest winner
- Woodland Critter Ugly Sweater ornament craft
- Ugly Sweater Bingo card set and Ugly Sweater Ornament keychains for winners
- Candy cane fun packs (candy)
We are not providing the usual bottled water and sweet & salty snack this year so that the kids have time to do their craft (or take it home), play a game, have the Ugly Sweater Contest winner announced, and have their book swap. For the book swap, if you would either play a fun holiday song on your phone or a Bluetooth speaker, kids can sit in a circle on the floor and pass the wrapped books and then unwrap the book they have when the music stops. We will provide extra books in case anyone is very upset about their book, and those can be used for swapping out books based on your teacher’s recommendation.
Please let your families know that students will be having an ugly sweater/craziest holiday outfit contest on that day!
