Inspiring & Empowering Learners!
AISD COVID-19 Updates and Information
To our knowledge, Alvarado does not have a confirmed case of COVID-19.
Johnson County has six reported cases of COVID-19.
Johnson County issued a Stay Home Order (Please see the attached document below).
Our phenomenal Chartwells Food Service Team fed approximately 800 students breakfast and lunch each day this week.
At this time, Governor Abbott has not extended school building closures.
We will make a decision next week regarding any extension to our building closure if the State has not already directed an extension.
AISD has a page on our website devoted to AISD COVID-19 information.
We also have a dedicated email address for COVID-19 questions: email@example.com
Learning Never Stops
AISD continues to Inspire and Empower Learning, even when we are not in the building. We are extremely proud of our educators, students, parents, and community partners for their efforts to support our distance learning process. We are doing everything possible to support learning at home until we know it is safe for students to return to our campuses.
Our Technology Team distributed Chromebook computers to approximately 825 AISD families to facilitate distance learning.
We also distributed instructional materials for those who do not have internet access.
Our educators started to connect with students through online learning platforms (SeeSaw & Google Classroom) and supplied instructional materials to those without internet access.
We have an email address devoted to technical support for our students and parents: firstname.lastname@example.org
Parents and Educators received detailed information regarding the next step in our distance learning plan Friday afternoon from AISD Chief Academic Officer, Ms. Maribel Diaz. The parent letter is attached below.
Chromebook Pickup Appointment
AISD is checking out one Chromebook for each family with a student in Alvarado ISD. The next opportunity to pick up a Chromebook will be Monday afternoon, March 30 by appointment only. Please complete the form below to request an appointment. Please remember that an electronic device only works if you have internet or a hotspot at home and that an AISD electronic device is not necessary to participate in online learning.
Way to Go AISD Family - A Huge Specific & Meaningful Compliment
The sudden change in our lives was unexpected and unwelcome for all of us. The resilience and response from our Alvarado community and AISD Family is not a surprise.
Several local churches, businesses, and the Alvarado Youth Sports Association (AYSA), reached out immediately to offer assistance. Countless educators, administrators, board members, and students volunteered to deliver food, create online lessons, and distribute technology. The AISD District Leadership Team worked around the clock during spring break and then into the first week of distance learning to ensure that needs were met, plans were finalized, and materials were ready for our students and educators.
We have experienced so much effort, support, excellence, communication, and most of all TEAMWORK from the entire community. We are always proud to say we are from Alvarado and to be Alvarado Indians, but these last two weeks demand the highest level of respect for our beloved Alvarado. The bare shelves, social distancing, and cancelled events may have many down, but the resilience and response should give us all cause to celebrate.
