Great Things are Happening at McKinley School! 10/24-28/2022
Important Information and Updates
WE KNOW YOUR CHILD HAS BIG DREAMS - AND EVERY DAY, WE ARE WORKING HARD TO MAKE THOSE DREAMS A REALITY.
That’s why we’re committed to making students’ voices and experiences the foundation of our efforts to grow and improve as a school.
During the week of November 7 – November 17, staff from TNTP, a national education non-profit, will be visiting some of our ELA classrooms to see a typical week of school from the perspective of our students. They will be focusing on the parts of school we know have the biggest impact on our students’ futures:
What students experience in the classroom during lessons
The kinds of work students are asked to complete
Teachers’ perspectives on how their students are progressing on grade-level standards
Your students’ interest in what they are learning, whether or not they believe it is important to their lives, and how much they feel like they belong in their school and classroom
TNTP will work to better understand this information in coordination with teachers and school leaders to ensure it does not cause any disruptions. Nothing collected will be used to grade or evaluate our school, teachers, or students. The only goal is to better understand the experiences students are having in our school every day, so that we can make that experience as positive and powerful as it can be.
Later this Winter, TNTP will share back findings from their site visit which will give us new information to continue to improve the ways we work with you and your students to help them reach the big goals we know they have.
Should you have any questions about this work or how your student is doing, please reach out to our school anytime.
Blaze Pizza Fundraiser:
Please join us for a fun and festive night at Blaze Pizza. This is a great opportunity to meet other McKinley families and help us raise money for our school. Please see the flyer below for more details.
Fun Fall Activities:
On Friday, October 28th our elementary students will be participating in a Pumpkin Parade at the District Office. They will have a great time collecting treats in their costumes! On Monday, October 31st the students will enjoy a movie and a treat after lunch. Students will not be wearing costumes on Monday. Please see Dr. Stewart's newsletter and flyers for more detailed information.
