I am the RHS TIP (Teacher Integration Partner) for the ACTS Program this year. We are working on implementing iPads into the Math Curriculum. We are also working with the Instructional Coach to write up her ACTS plan.

One Book One School: We are planning a community-wide reading event. I have written our REF Grant and we present it to the committee in February.


Appy (1/2) Hour: We went over how Notability and Schoology work together. We also talked about using PowToon as an option for students idea presentations.

Apple Distinguished Educator Meeting

January 7th: We are planning for the ADE Application. A teacher survey and student survey were determined to collect data.

PSLA Emerging Leaders Academcy

Our monthly virtual conference call was held on 1/12. The focus was on communicating effectively and shaping student behavior to promote a learning environment in the library. We are planning our presentation at the PSLA Conference in May.

WES Parent Book Club

January 8, 2016: Teamed up with Sue Dahlstrom, WES Librarian, to offer a parent book club discussion on Chris Herren's book: Basketball Junkie. It was well-attended and a lot of fun.

Happy New Year! As we enter into January, many research projects are going to be started across our content areas. The RHS Library has a wide variety of print and online resources for all of our students. Regarding the print resources, did you know that we no longer have late fees? Students are relieved to know that they can check out a book and not have to worry about owing any money for being late. We do send late notices through Schoology! Check out some books!


Speaking of Schoology, you can find all of our database passwords and links in the Radnor High School Library Schoology Group’s Resources Tab. All students are members of this group. We also frequently update other resource materials such as Reading, Research, LibGuides, and more. All of our databases can be found here: http://rtsd.libguides.com/Databases. Mission and Philosophy

Mission

The library media center is central to the learning process occurring in schools. Its program is designed to produce students who are information literate. Information literate students are effective users of information in a variety of formats. The school library media center is the vehicle that provides opportunities for students to attain information literacy and to foster a lifelong interest in acquiring knowledge while following their passions. A student-centered program is dependent upon a school librarian assuming a pivotal role in working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and others direct to the program.


Philosophy

The school library media program in the Radnor Township School District will prepare students for their roles in the technology-driven global community of the 21st century by teaching students to find and use information efficiently and effectively. The library program will help students develop lifelong reading and learning skills and the motivation to take responsibility for their own learning.
