Home to Planet Dixon's Out of this World 3rd Graders!
Week 20 Feb. 8th-12th
We had a Fabulous First week of February! ;) Friday we had a fun-filled day with extra school-wide recess, Kinderbuddies, lunch in the classroom with Charlotte's Web movie, then Robot Playdate with Mrs. Anastasio's class! Check out all the pictures and videos from our class photographer and videographer here.
Please see below for some important dates to remember in February! We are back to our normal homework menu...HOWEVER, students MUST choose one math activity and the writing activity (highlighted in yellow)...if you do more you can earn extra credit Dixon Dollars! I will be checking h.w. on Fridays as I used to.
Reading/A.R.: A CLASS goal is to work harder on reading and taking A.R. quizzes. This is a school-wide program and it's really beneficial for students to practice this online assessment and to check their comprehension. Scholars, reading for 20 minutes a night is NOT OPTIONAL and is very important h.w...I challenge you to focus on this and taking A.R. tests much more frequently. Keep up the reading!
Friendship Day- (Valentine's Activities) Next Thursday
Meet Mrs. Rowland!
Hello, 3rd Grade Parents at Planet Dixon!
I wanted to take a little time to write you this letter introducing myself and my role in your student’s classroom! I am a teacher candidate in the Multiple Subject Credential Program at Cal State University San Marcos. I am so excited that Mrs. Dixon has volunteered to be my mentor teacher this semester! We will be co-teaching and she will be guiding me through my new learning as a teacher candidate. I have heard so many great things from her about this special group of students, and they were all so welcoming on my first day! I look forward to getting to know them all and hopefully meet some of you as well.
A little about me, I graduate from Cal State in May 2015 with my B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Linguistics. I have known since I started college that I wanted to teach, and I am overjoyed to be so close to my goal! I am so grateful for the professional development opportunities that CSUSM offers teacher candidates, the most influential being the opportunity to teach under a mentor teacher. I also really look forward to learning all that technology has to offer as part of an educational tool and hope to implement some of these skills in my future classroom. From the first day I could tell I am going to learn so much at this school and in this classroom and that is an invaluable gift!
I just want to take a minute to assure you that I am aware of the importance of confidentiality in working with students, and should you receive any permission requests for me to work in depth with your child for a particular assignment pertaining to my program, all materials remain strictly for the use of my studies to help me become a better educator. Again, I look so forward to meeting you and getting to know your students, my time as a student teacher has been my favorite experience in my educational endeavors thus far!
Sincerely,
