The Family Services Department is still recruiting for the 2022-2023 school year. The advocates have been working really hard to recruit in order to fill all of the vacant slots in both our Early Head Start and Head Start programs. The family advocates will be distributing Dental bags along with literature on Healthy Dental Care in observance of Dental Health month. Family advocates are also scheduling welcome visits for our newly enrolled families. Family advocates are also scheduling midyear outcomes/goals.

February is Children's Dental Health Month! One activity you can do with your students is learning and discussing various sizes and shapes of animal teeth.
Students can create teeth of their favorite animal using construction paper or paper cup and scissors. Allow the children to cut out the shapes of their favorite animals and model them for the class. Teachers can also use this activity to do a compare and contrast between Carnivores and Herbivores.
Great books to read to your students this month are:
Books that can be read to your students for Dental Health Month:
The Tooth Book by Dr. Suess
Meet a Dentist In Our Neighborhood by AnnMarie Anderson and Lisa Hunt

Mitigation Policy effect Feb. 6, 2023
Mitigation Policy for COVID-19
Concluding Themes
• Students benefit from in-person learning, and safely providing in-person instruction is a priority.
• Vaccination is the leading public health prevention strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic. Promoting vaccination can help schools safely return to in-person learning.
• Due to the circulating and highly contagious COVID variants, masking by all students (age 2 and older), staff, teachers, and visitors, is still a reasonable option, especially for those with pre-existing medical conditions.
• Recent legislation has provided parents with the option to decide if a child should wear a mask or not.
• The PCDC Board has voted to provide staff members with the option to wear a mask or not.
• Social distancing to the degree possible to reduce transmission risk is still an effective mitigation strategy, especially when positive cases have been found in a given location.
• Screening testing, ventilation, handwashing, respiratory etiquette, staying home when sick, and cleaning and disinfection are important layers of prevention to keep schools safe.
• Students, teachers, and staff should stay home when they have signs of any infectious illness and be referred to their healthcare provider for testing and care.
• Localities should monitor community transmission, vaccination coverage, screening testing, and occurrence of outbreaks to guide decisions on the required levels of layered mitigation strategies needed to maintain an appropriate amount of safety.
· This Policy allows the rule to continue to be relevant and up to date as the level of COVID-19 impact in communities’ changes.

There are lots of celebrations that occur in the month of February and in one way or the other, much of it circles back to love. A large part of expressing love is taking care of what we love. Whether that be ourselves, our family, friends, pets or our community. Love isn’t something we feel but something we express. So, this month, let's celebrate and express all of the varieties of love we have in our hearts. Regardless of what you celebrate this month it's important to show that you care.
Show love and be the reason someone smiles today!!!!
