What are Conventions?
What are Conventions you might ask? A conventions is just a fancy term for how well a paragraph should flow. Fluency is key in making your essay, report, or any type of writing, that you do, seem perfect and flawless. It definitely turns a lot of heads. You can use fluency in writing and speaking.
CONVENTIONS: PUNCTUATION
The most important thing involving conventions is punctuation. Without punctuation, life would be ongoing, outrageously long and boring.
The Parts of Conventions:
Semi-Colons, Commas, and Colons
These are types of grammar used to add a pause or completely stop a sentence.
Parentheses, Brackets, and Ellipses
These add affect to a sentence or paragraph by drawing attention to something the author thought was more important and decided to add it in; almost as a source of the author's thoughts.
Apostrophes, Dashes, and Hyphens
These are more random grammatical types that do different things. Apostrophes show possession of something or make a contraction. Dashes- like parentheses- add in an author's thought or notes. Hyphens are like a bridge between two words that can't actually be written together.
