Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee was born 8 June 1955, also known as TimBL, is an English computer scienctist.
Best known as the inventor of the WWW (WORLD WIDE WEB). He created it in 1989 and he wrote the first web client and server in 1990.
He is Director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), a Web organization founded in 1994 that develops specifications, guidelines, software, and tools for the web. He is a founding Director of the Web Science Trust, launched in 2009 to promote research and education in Web Science.
On March 18 2013, Tim, along with Vinton Cerf, Robert Kahn, Louis Pouzin and Marc Andreesen, was awarded the Queen Elizabeth prize for engineering for "ground-breaking innovation in engineering that has been of global benefit to humanity."
