Pajama Day on Friday, November 15th!

The Student Council at Rose Glen is supporting an all school pajama day on Friday, November 15. Have your student wear their most comfy school appropriate PJ's on Friday to show their school spirit. Please no blankets/pillows and stuffed animals should be small enough to fit in their backpacks.

Reading Workshop/Language Workshop

Readers will be finishing our second unit next week. Students have been focusing on character relationships in this unit through Language Workshop books, and in Literature Discussion Groups. Students are recognizing that relationships can change and develop throughout the story. It has been such a great unit for growth in our learners! We are looking forward to our next unit, Discovery, which will highlight narrative non-fiction, while exploring various musicians through time.

Writing Workshop

In writing we are beginning our new informational writing unit. Students will do research and write a five paragraph essay, that will then be put into the “Rose Glen Newscast” using Green Screen technology.

Math Workshop

Mathematicians have completed their test regarding multiplicative comparisons and have begun a problem solving unit. They are investigating beginning division in this unit and are recognizing the connections of using multiplication to solve division problems. This problem solving unit will wrap up next week Friday, November 15th. As a teaching team, we are still understanding the fundamentals of Matific and appreciate your patience with this new program - and us!

Science & Social Studies

This week, we wrapped up our last activities with Earth and Human Activity. The past few weeks we have been talking about energy, renewable and nonrenewable resources, along with natural disasters and how we can help lessen the impacts of natural disasters. Starting next week, we will be moving into a social studies unit on Geography!
