Randolph Families,
As we enter October, time is flying and our school family is thriving! Our students and staff are working so hard each and everyday. Thank you for your continued partnership!
Thank you for supporting the RES fall Scholastic Book Fair. The students were thrilled to have new books to read! There are still opportunities to purchase books and support our school. The RES Online Book Fair will continue until October 9th.
Volunteers are needed to make decorations to help "set the stage" for two upcoming events in October. If you are interested, please reach out to our school librarian, Susan Vaughan: svaughan@glnd.k12.va.us

Parents’ Night Out sponsored by the Goochland High School Drama Department

Ready to unwind after the hectic first month of school? You get to enjoy a night out while your kids have a night of pizza and old school fun. Plus, you’ll be supporting a great cause-the Goochland Drama Department. Now that’s a win/win. Enjoy an evening out while your kids have a pizza and fun filled game night! We will have games for all ages from playground games to video games.

Saturday 10/8
- A Fire-Rescue Show is planned for Saturday evening, October 8th, starting at 6 p.m. at Goochland High School in the back parking lot. We are planning an evening of fire and EMS demonstrations for our citizens and children, also the kicking off of Fire Prevention Week. A small fireworks show is planned for the end of the evening. This is a great opportunity to promote community risk reduction, while showcasing the department. Please consider coming out and spending an evening with your local Firefighters and EMS providers.

Gifted and Talented News
How can students be referred for gifted screening?
A teacher or a parent may refer a child for gifted screening. If your child exhibits gifted behaviors and is performing above level, you or your child’s teachers may refer your child as a good candidate. The fall testing window opens October 3rd and closes October 31st.
Go to Goochland County Schools Gifted Page. Here you will find the Gifted Referral Process and the Initial Referral Form. This form is due to Randolph Elementary by 3pm on October 31st.

- If you need more car tags please email roadruunners@glnd.k12.va.us *you need them for car rider, after school activity pick ups and in case of an emergency (this will help with safety & efficiency in case of an emergency)
- Save the date for parent/teacher conferences on October 24th. Teachers will share a sign up in the upcoming weeks. Conferences are from 12:00 - 7:30pm for your planning purposes. *the last conference for most teachers will be at 7:00pm.
- November 8th (Election Day) is a remote learning day for students. More info to come as we get closer.

This meeting is for anyone interested in learning more about PTA and is a great time to meet our PTA Board Members for the 22-23 school year. We will meet in the Library at RES from 7:45-9am. County Wide News
Youth Mental Health First Aid is an early intervention public education program. It teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen non-judgmentally and give reassurance to a youth who may be experiencing a mental health challenge, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support and services. This is an option training for families and staff. Click on the link to register and view the flyer attached below for more information
