Weekly Updates April 19, 2020
Happy Sunday Pirates,
We hope that you enjoyed your Easter holiday and spring break. Thank you for your generosity in supporting our food drive last week. Because of your support, we were able to deliver groceries for a week to 60 families in our community.
Tomorrow we will resume virtual learning, daily lunch service and computer repair services. Students are reminded that they are expected to continue working in all of their courses and they should be spending an average of 4 hours per day (or 1 hour per class) working online. The end of the grading period is just a week away and report cards will be available for pick up on May 4, 2020. Spring grades are very important and determine fall athletic eligibility, driving privileges and much more!
Spring break didn't stop our students and staff from making their mark in North Carolina! Coach Kim Miller received the 2020 Toby Webb Outstanding Coach Award while Emily Matthews and Abigail Bamber won 3rd and 2nd place at the Southeast Regional National History Day competition! Their exhibits will be advancing to the state level.
Students are reminded that S2S Club applications are currently open! Students can apply online through Wednesday.
This week kicks off our second virtual spirit week! Join us by submitting daily pictures to Helen.Gross@onslow.k12.nc.us by 4 pm. Voting will be open each day from 4-8pm. Daily student winners will receive a $10 Pizza Hut gift card. Parents or grandparents who also participate will be entered into a drawing for a homemade 12 layer chocolate cake by Dr. Gross so join us for the fun that will include Mighty Jungle Monday, Time Travel Tuesday, Boredom Buster Wednesday, Everyday Hero Day on Thursday and Color Wars on Friday.
This week is also Administrative Assistant week. Please take a moment to call, text or email and show your appreciation for our wonderful team of office ladies that includes Ms. Hill, Mrs. Behan, Mrs. Sanbeg and Mrs. Russell. They are our behind-the-scenes superheroes who are constantly working to support our students and staff.
In closing, please remember that we are here to help you and your student be successful. Reach out and let us know if you need assistance with online learning, counseling support, food delivery or computer repairs.
