Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
Duluth Middle's Seventh grade social studies teachers, Ms. Huynh and Ms Tran, and Connections (guitar) teacher Ashley Drake were among the many volunteers who made our first Duluth Cluster Parent Technology Workshop last Saturday a huge success. Ms. Antonia Melian, our parent liaison under Title 1, was a key player in organizing the event.. While Ms. Melian directed people to the varioius workshops, DMS teachers walked parents through various computer programs they can use at home to support their students, including IXL, Quizzes, and other valuable resources. An event of this magnitude would not have been possible without the support of our dedicated staff throughout the cluster. The professionalism, effort, and dedication that they showed last Saturday, while sharing their expertise with the families of our cluster, are just a small sample of the commitment of the educational community.
Next Wednesday, September 25th, will be another opportunity to participate in a multicultural event as Duluth Middle School's sixth grade hosts Heritage night at 5:30 in the cafeteria. A time to enjoy food and fellowship, Heritage Night was born eight years ago as an extension of 6th grade's study of the novel "Seedfolks". It is all about celebrating the coming together of a culturally diverse community. Families are invited to bring native dishes of their various countries as well as to wear and/or share native costumes of different regions of the world.
I hope to see you there! PS - Save the date for October 19th, which will be PTA's Wildcat Family Fun Day. Stay tuned for details.
Have a great weekend!
