Boxes!
Dear Parents
The weather might not have been on our side this week, but PK 3 still rallied on and made the best out of the situation. On Monday we continued our study unit by allowing our student to investigate different types of boxes. Our discussion was focused on the things that we can do with a box; simply using our imaginations to turn a plain object into something wonderful!
On Tuesday morning we took what we had discussed the previous day to plan ahead on out Box creations. First we read the story “Not a Box”, a wonderful book that tells the tale of a bunny who make incredible things out of a box. As we finished reading the story, we talked about the different things we would like our boxes from the “Box Collection” to become. Each student was given a piece of paper where they had to draw their ideas. We suggest that you ask your child what they want to create using their box.
As the week went on, our student began to show more and more interest on boxes by playing around with them in different ways. Some used the boxes like cars, others used the boxes to build towers, and others used their imagination to make beds. We encourage you to find a large box around your house and allow your child to use their imagination to create something new.
