Flowers For Algernon
Would you rather be smart or happy? Charlie, I know that you want to be smart, but you are fine. You are happy and you could have Miss Kinnian teach you. Suffering is not a good thing, don't do surgery!
Miss Kinnian
Charlie if you don't do surgery, you could still learn from Miss Kinnian. It would take time, but you could still be "smart". You could learn how to write good and read books. If you did the surgery, you would end up knowing what love is and falling in love with Miss Kinnian.
Smartness
If you did the surgery, you would be very smart. You would be happy, but you are already happy. You would triple your I.Q of 68. You would be a genius! You would make friends with a mouse, you test with, but something happens.
Suffering
Later, after the surgery, you would suffer and something for the mouse you test with; Algernon. You would not be the same Charlie ever again. I would prefer not to do the surgery. It is your decision, whatever floats your boat Charlie Gordon.
Charlie, you should not do the surgery; my opinion. You will suffer, not be the same ever again, and get attached to a mouse and treat him as a friend. He did the same surgery and gets the same side effects, but they are much worse. Think about it before you do the surgery, would you rather be smart be happy?
