Happy November!
Hello Tamarack Families,
Time is flying by! Doesn't feel like that long ago that we gathered for the Grand Opening and now we head into November!
A few quick notes:
- you should be receiving options from your classroom teacher for November Conferences, they will occur on Monday November 20th and Tuesday November 21st. Conferences are typically scheduled for about 20 minutes as a check in and to update you on your child's academic progress. We will also put out the lost and found for your perusal :)
- I will be supporting staff with lunch on Monday November 20th, if you would like to contribute to a small Tuesday (11/21) afternoon potluck (homemade items are fine for staff), please email me, we always appreciate food on long work days.
- teachers take attendance at 8am in the classroom, meaning having your child here by 7:55 at the latest will ensure they are not counted as tardy or absent, thank you in advance. Again, doors open at 7:30am (students can eat breakfast or wait with classmates supervised in the gym), they are excused to their class at 7:50 and attendance is taken at 8am.
- please use the crosswalk at dismissal and pull forward. I know its tough to wait but it is greatly appreciated; dismissal no matter the school is always a challenge but once the rain hits, our shared patience and safety routines will be imperative, thank you- much appreciation.
- reminder, if your child needs any medication (even cough drops) plese check them in at the front office.
A bit about monthly schoolwide celebrations/focus:
Each month we celebrate a different character trait and look for leaders in the school who model them. In September our trait was Cooperation. In October, we focused on Respect and learned about former first lady Michelle Obama. This month, we will celebrate Gratitude school wide and learn about Joy Harjo, an American poet, musician, playwright, and author. She served as the 23rd United States Poet Laureate, the first Native American to hold that honor. Additionally, November brings a focus on Social Awareness and Belonging: The abilities to understand the perspectives of and empathize with others, including those from diverse backgrounds, cultures, & contexts -can be great table talk at dinner!
Thank you for a lovely October, see you soon!
Below is a picture of our Tamarack Student Voice Team. Fourth, 5th and 6th graders applied to be a part of a leadership team to help me navigate the needs, hopes and wants of our students. We will be focused on creating inclusive spaces with a final project to make Tamarack a place where everyone feels cared for and welcome! So excited to learn from our students:)
