Anyone that signed up with Mrs. Amundson or Mr. Muse to try out for the talent show, auditions will be held on December 9th immediately after school. This is open to both students and staff! The 2019 SWHS Talent Show will be held on December 17th.
Literacy
- Direct vocabulary instruction
- Classroom discussion of vocabulary words
- Sustained Silent Reading
- Require reading directly related to content
- Provide reading materials in the classroom
- Teach strategies to determine word meaning through context
- Promote a culture of reading in our building
Literacy across all contents is part of a basic foundation for a great education. Encourage your students to check out a book to take home and read over Christmas break, or better yet, schedule a time to take your students to the library before we are out.
ACT Focus--Trimester 2
You have a copy of the mock assessment students completed in October as well a copy of the questions each student missed in all four sections. Return these to students and allow them to discover why they missed what they missed. Assign students ACT prep in an Albert classroom--you can add content for each section of the ACT in your classroom easily and then just give students the code.
Our next mock ACT is scheduled for January 14th (with a backup plan in case of bad weather). We will test 11th grade students only in this session. Our juniors will have a great opportunity to apply test-taking strategies and work towards improving their previous mock ACT scores--all in preparation for the official test given in March.
ACT Academy--ACT is provides a free resource to all students, parents, and teachers called ACT Academy.
