McCat Parents,
February is off to a great start! The kids are so excited about the Book Fair and Read Across Aledo! Black History Month is in full swing, and daily we are learning about inspiring leaders from the African American community. This week students will hear about John Lewis, Dr. Martin Luther King, Nyeeam Hudson, and Rosa Parks. Last week the students learned about George Wahington Carver, Mae C. Johnson, Amanda Gorman, Fredrick Douglas, and Katherine Johnson. In Art, Music, Tech, ELAR, and SS, students are doing mini projects to learn more about Black History Month along with their scheduled curriculum.
Brick by brick we are heading towards completion of a spectacular 6th grade school year. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

COVID Health & Safety Reminders
As we move into cold and flu season and begin to see an uptick in positive COVID-19 cases amongst our students and staff, please be reminded of the health and safety protocols in AISD’s Return to Learn Plan:
- Parents of all students must screen children for symptoms and take the temperature of each of their children before their child attends school every day. Students who have an elevated temperature above 100.4°F OR have any COVID-related symptoms must report the symptoms to their campus nurse and stay home (Please DO NOT send kids with symptoms to school).
- All students shall wear face coverings at all times while on Aledo ISD property that social distancing, maintaining six feet of distance, is not possible. Face coverings should cover both the nose and the mouth of the user.
What to Expect if there is a Positive Case at McAnally
Parents will receive email notification if a student or employee tests positive for COVID-19. If it has been determined that your student was in close contact with someone who tested positive, you will receive an additional notification.
Please Follow these Guidelines if someone in your family has tested positive or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive:
- If someone in your household tests positive, notify AISD immediately through the COVID Reporting Form and do not send anyone from the household to school.
- If someone with whom a student had close contact has tested positive, notify AISD immediately through the COVID Reporting Form and do not send that student to school.
Aledo ISD COVID-19 Tracking
Student Absence vs. Quarantine
If your student is not feeling well and/or has COVID symptoms, please contact the school to notify us of their absence. If symptoms subside and the student is able to come back to school, they will then be provided make-up work for their absence. If the symptoms worsen and they test positive for COVID, please complete the COVID reporting form and the school will notify you regarding the specific quarantine guidelines. The quarantine process is initiated by the school when we receive a COVID Reporting Form.
Please see Ms. Huffman's Counselor Corner for lots of great information, including resources, theme months, start with hello program information, digital citizenship, as well as tips and strategies for every day health! You don't want to miss this. Click below.
It’s February, so let’s think about how we show and receive love. Have you ever wondered, “do my kids know I love them?” or thought of the answer to “how do I show my kids that I love them?” To insure your kids not only hear the words “I love you” but also feel the love you have for them, you must understand how your child receives love. There are 5 different love languages in total: Touch, Words, Quality Time, Gifts and Service. Each one has its own unique way of sharing and receiving love. Figure out your child’s love language so you are communicating effectively with them and your love will impact them forever! Here is a survey you can give your child to discover their love language! This sheet will give you some ideas of ways to show your child how much you care based on his/her love language! Happy February!
