Return to School
Dear Fraser Families,
I hope everyone has had a great summer and enjoyed time with family and friends. Based upon the work of our Return to School Task Force and Survey Data we are planning to start the year in a Virtual mode with opportunities for small in person learning for every grade level in the District and that we continue in that mode through the first semester of school (January). We look forward to working with you as we begin the new year with remote instruction. Our teachers are committed to delivering quality education to our students and making the connections that make the difference in your child’s learning. Your student’s schedule is already being built and teachers will remain the same through the semester, even if we transition back to in-person learning.
You can expect frequent communications from us as we look forward to the start of 2020-21. Here is some information that I would like to share with you at this time:
- While we are in the office, we are limiting visitors to those who have a direct reason to visit the school. Please call our office for an appointment. While building access is being limited, please know that we are always happy to talk with you and answer your questions over the phone or via Email. Our office number is 586-439-7200.
- We anticipate student schedules being available via Powerschool and Unified Classroom on August, 21st. For access to Unified Classroom and PowerSchool, please email Nancy Wallace @ Nancy.Wallace@fraserk12.org or Jennifer Price @ Jennifer.Price@fraserk12.org.
- Counselors will begin working on August 24th to process schedule changes. Please fill out the form for schedule changes: https://forms.gle/bxiJ8qTb2r63u3RBA
- For health and safety reasons, there will not be an in-person orientation. Orientation will be virtual on August 27th at the following times: Grades 10-12- 11:00am; Grade 9- 1:00pm. Meetings will be recorded and added to the Fraser High School website. A separate school messenger will be sent to register for class meeting.
- Secondary students will follow a blue/gold schedule when we open remotely (See image below).
We are excited to be partnering with you again as we look forward to the start of school on September 8th. Both our school and district will be communicating with you further so that you can have a better understanding of the supports your child will have and what their days will look like. There is already a great deal of information on the Fraser Website at this link: https://www.fraser.k12.mi.us/domain/463
If you have any questions, please feel free to respond to this e-mail or call the office at 586-439-7200.
This is the first of a series of communications on back-to-school. As we face this challenge together as a Fraser Family I look forward to continued dialogue and interaction. Our teachers and staff miss the students and families and look forward to the day when we are all back at Fraser High School listening to the fight song play, WE RISE! Please look to our webpage (https://www.fraser.k12.mi.us/Page/1) for information as well as Twitter (@PrincipalSines) for more updates.
Sincerely,
Ryan D. Sines, Ed.S

FAQ
Where can families find information on our website?
Return to School Plan: www.fraser.k12.mi.us/return
Community Conversations page: www.fraser.k12.mi.us/page/670.
What is Fraser’s plan for the fall?
Leveraging the work from our Return to School Plan, we have decided that in the best interest of the safety of our students and staff, we will start the school year in a virtual mode, with opportunities for small group, in-person learning for every grade level in the District. We plan to continue in that mode through the first semester of school (January 22).
Is Fraser reviewing their plan every 30 days? Why are we saying we will be virtual through January?
The January date is subject to change. The District will continually monitor and adjust accordingly based upon the data and research provided by the Health Department. However, a virtual option will stay in place throughout the year.
Will a virtual option still be available for second semester, if it is safe enough to bring students back into classrooms?
Yes, a virtual option will remain for K-12 students in the second semester, even if the district transitions back to a more traditional face-to-face option.
My child is sick. Do I need to call them in?
Yes, please utilize the attendance line the same way as we have in the past.
My student won’t be able to sign in to the live meetings every day. Can they complete the work in the evenings? Do I need to call them in absent?
More information to follow - Due to the recent Legislation we are working with the MISD on reporting protocols.
What are the SACC changes?
SACC will be offered at all elementary schools. We have very limited spaces available. Parents must register in advance and pick their schedule. At that time, they will prepay for the next two weeks. The daily rates are $25/child for an afternoon (12-6 p.m.) and $35/child for full day (7 a.m. - 6 p.m.). Breakfast and lunch is available for these students. Busing is not. More information is online at www.fraser.k12.mi.us/SACC.
Will busing be available?
Yes, busing will be available for the small group sessions. It will not be available for students in SACC.
