A Note From the Principal
The flu season is here and we want to keep our Aviators well! In an effort to keep our students and staff aware of healthy habits to avoid illnesses, we would like to encourage you to go over the following precautions with your student(s):
- Wash your hands with soap and water periodically throughout the day. If possible, use hand sanitizer to keep your hands free of germs.
- Keep your surroundings clean. For example, be sure to properly dispose of used tissues after use in a wastebasket.
- If you suspect someone is sick, avoid contact such as shaking hands.
- If you experience illness such as a fever or vomiting while on campus, please report to the nurse for evaluation.
Additionally, I have communicated with our lead custodial staff to diligently disinfect areas of the campus throughout the day such as restrooms, water fountains and door handles; as well as, monitor the replenishing of soap in the restrooms.
The health and well-being of our students and staff is greatly important. We hope the emphasis on healthy habits can keep our Aviators well.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Webster
Changes to 5th grade lunch schedule
In an effort to maximize student safety in addition to alleviating pressure put on our cafeteria staff, beginning January 7th we are moving our 5th grade lunch to begin at 12:50. This will allow the cafeteria the time they need to prepare food and will also allow 5th grade more flexibility in the lunchroom during this time.

Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon on Journey Parkway-We need your help!
From Leander PD-How it works:
The signal light will be "dark" or no signal lights activated and drivers can continue through. When prompted by a pedestrian/crossing guard wanting to cross, the signal light will start flashing yellow-warning drivers to use caution. The signal light will go to a solid yellow letting drivers know that a red light is next so prepare to stop. Once the red light is on, it will be a steady red meaning all traffic has to stop and stay stopped. A short time later the red lights will begin to flash which tells drivers they can proceed AFTER they have first stopped and if their crosswalk is clear of pedestrians/crossing guards.
Please spread the word and help us keep our Aviators and Crossing Guards safe each day! Thank you for your support!

Second Step Tips and Tools for Parents-Thank you Ms. Lehn
Students in Kinder-5th grade benefit from daily social-emotional lessons through a program called Second Step. They have recently been learning about feelings and how to manage strong emotions. When children’s feelings are very strong, it is hard for them to think clearly and pay attention. When children are calm, they are able to learn and get along better with others.
Ask your child to name the 3 steps for how to calm down.
They are:
- Stop—use your signal
- Name your feeling
- Calm down: breathe, count, use positive self-talk.
