National Signing Day

Four student-athletes - Aaron Atkinson, Anita Bates, Becca Thrasher, and Preston Stafford, from Hazel Green High School, made the decision of a lifetime! They committed to their school of choice! The HG Football and Softball team were represented on National Signing Day! Thanks to all for a great turnout and Jeffery Hall for providing pictures!

Wishing a Good Friend a Fairwell

Tom Highfield, Principal of Meridianville Middle School, is retiring! Congratulations to Tom Highfield on his retirement of 31 years. He has been a great teacher, principal, and a friend of the Hazel Green community! Mr. Long and the Hazel Green family wish him well and a happy retirement!

Something You Don't See Often

Christian Clark, a Senior at Hazel Green, is already employed at Madison County Schools in computer services! This is a new opportunity for students to get real life experience in the computer industry. Christian is one of the first students to start in the new program. We are excited to welcome him to the team! Great job, Christian!

Pep Rally Today

We are going to try a different routine for today's pep rally! We will be on our regular bell schedule for blocks 1-3 and have our regular lunch. At the end of 3rd block, we will report to 5th block. We will not go to skinny block today. Cheerleaders, dance team, and band members will be dismissed at 2:10 PM.


Schedule


  • 1st block - normal time
  • 2nd block - normal time
  • 3rd block - normal time
  • We will not go to skinny block (4th)
  • 5th block - 1:15-2:35 PM
  • Activity - 2:35-3:30 PM Begin calling students down at 2:35


AM Tech will go to tech and return at the normal time.

PM Tech will go at their regular time and return at approximately 3:00 PM for the pep rally.

HG Basketball

The Trojan Nation will take on the Albertville Aggies tonight. Don't miss this event! The Hazel Green Trojans are getting ready for Area! The Lady Trojans remain No. 1 in final ASWA High School Basketball Rankings and the Varsity Boys are seeded #3 and ready to compete! Varsity Boys will tip-off at 7:30 PM, Varsity Girls and Freshman Boys at 6:00 PM and Junior Varsity teams at 4:30 PM!

"Black-Out" the Area Tournament

We want to 'BLACK-OUT' the first AREA game and for Regionals! Our Lady Trojans will face the James Clemens Jets. Tip off is at 6:00 PM. The Tee's are $10.00! There's a very limited supply! See Coach Tim Miller to purchase today!

Get Ready for Trojan Soccer

Get ready for some Trojan Soccer! The Trojan Nation will head to Florence to take on the Falcons! Junior Varsity's game will kick-off at 5:00 PM and the main event with the Varsity Boys at 7:00 PM!

The French Club

The French Club will be celebrating Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 9th, after school, in Madame Braudaway's room, Cll2. We will be having King Cake! All members may come by before school to pick up Mardi Gras beads and tattoos to wear during the day!

Trip to France & Italy

The final deadline to attend the France and Italy trip May 30th through June 8th is February 10th. For more information see Mrs. Braudaway in room C112 or go to the website, Worldstrides.com/enroll. The username is europe2016 and the password is braudaway!

Students Pursuing Education in a Building Industry Related Field

Attached you will find information on scholarship applications for any student pursuing an education in a building industry related field. Eligible students include those attending two-year community colleges, four-year colleges or universities or state accredited to tech schools. Building industry related fields include architecture, drafting, building science, civil engineering, or other housing industry vocations such as heating and air conditioning, electrical, masonry, carpentry, etc. Students must be residents of Madison County or contiguous counties. Please pass along this information to any student that may qualify and be interested in applying for a scholarship through our Foundation. The deadline is March 18th.

National School Counselor's Week

Happy National School Counselor’s Week! Get ready for the 4th Annual National School Counseling Week Poster & Essay Contest! The state-level 1st place winner for 12th grade will receive a $1000 scholarship for post-secondary endeavors, sponsored by Alabama College and Career Guide (www.alccg.com). Enrollment in a post-secondary institution at the time of scholarship award is required. The winner will be contacted for more information. Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form into Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.


Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of the school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.

PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.


Recycle:
Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.


Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.

(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag, just stop by the main office to pick one up.
