Week Of February 10th
Highlights from last week....
We hope you all had a great weekend.
We worked on what foods grow on a farm, the letters F and R and the sight words he and with.
In Math, we continued composing and decomposing numbers. We also learned about number bonds and how to use them.
A peek at our learning this week....
This week our class will be focusing on the four seasons and how they are different. Children will also be reading stories and poems about the weather in each season.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we will be practicing.
Word Workout
- Vocabulary: weather, seasons Discuss the four seasons and describe how the weather is similar or different, depending on where you live. Then invite your child to draw a picture of each season.
- My Words to Know
High-Frequency Words: is, little Write the words is and little on paper, then have your child do the same. Describe the weather you see outside today. Use the words is and little and record them on paper.
Category Words: seasons Display some of the clothing that your child wears in each of the four seasons. Ask your child to identify the season during which the clothing is worn.
Phonics: b, l Invite your child to search for objects that begin with the letter b and the letter l. Write the names of the objects on sticky notes. Have your child stick the labels on each item.
Comprehension: key details in a sequence
In Math, we will continue to work on breaking numbers apart and putting them together using number bonds.

VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY- FRIDAY, February 14th
We will also be having our Valentine's Day party on Friday, February 14th. If your child chooses to participate, we suggest that you have them ONLY sign their name to their valentines. This makes the distribution process a whole lot easier if we do not have to sort through the valentines looking for names. If funds are tight and you cannot afford to purchase valentines, we discussed that homemade valentines are just as great as store bought. Let us know and we can send home some construction paper for you. If you would like to send in a yummy treat for the party, please let us know by sending in a note in your child's red folder. Thank you in advance for you help!
