Morning Meeting structure:
Greeting: The meeting starts with the teacher greeting the students and students greeting each other. Students look at each other and say good morning, trading high-fives, fist bumps, elbow bumps, smiles--whatever you decide for that day. You can even teach them greetings in other languages/cultures!
Teacher News / School Business: This is when you can explain the schedule for the day (especially if there are any changes). You can go over calendar, talk about teaching points or I Can statements for the day, or share about upcoming events.
Class News / Share: This is a time for students to share what is going on in their own lives. It can be a show and tell, a time to share and respond, a Q & A focused on one student--anything that builds community and knowing one another.
Message / Lesson: This is a hands-on activity meant to build social emotional awareness and strength in your classroom community. It can be responsive, team building or even a short book or video that gets students thinking about their own emotions or role in the classroom. ***This is where the Wild Life High Lesson fits in.
