Executive Director Newsletter
Wishing you only the best for the winter break.
New Year is like the beginning of a new life. It is an excellent event to appreciate all the good events and things that we experienced last year and all the nice things that are waiting for us in the upcoming year.
The past 365 days have given you a number of unforgettable moments which couldn’t be the same without some important people in our lives. A family is our basis and support, that’s why it’s so significant to thank every member of our community and SDCCS family. You occupy a particular place in our heart and we want to send you some lovely wishes and to say “Happy New Year”
New Year is definitely the best time to make resolutions, make great plans and set ambitions, we have great plans in the year to come. We not only look forward to watching your kids grow and grow their love of learning but we look forward to watching our new campus grow.
New year wishes are all about goodwill, appreciation and warmth, it is a good time to let you know how much we value our community and all that you contribute. We wish you and your family a very Happy New Year!
School Update
Friends and Family,
As we approach the end of 2019 and we begin to look forward to the new year, I wanted to take a moment to provide a brief update on the school activity relative to the Mountain View campus and the rest of the school year.
As you know, in November, the SDCCS Board of Directors made the very difficult decision to close the MV campus on December 20. Since the time they made that decision, the SDCCS leadership team has been working hard to facilitate student transfers, support staff in their search for their next position and collaborate with San Diego Unified School District on disposition of the space we occupy at the MV campus.
To say that the last several months have been challenging would be quite the understatement. As someone who has been a part of SDCCS for 14 years, as a teacher, parent and administrator, this has been the most emotional and, frankly, heartbreaking time I’ve experienced. The culture of our organization since we were founded has been one of collaboration and respect. I am going to work hard to prioritize a positive culture moving forward.
As we close out 2019 and enter a new chapter in SDCCS’ story, I want to thank you for your continued support for our school and ask you to work with me to help restore our sense of togetherness, mutual respect, humility and grace as we move forward into 2020 and beyond.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Sarah
