Holistic Practices

By: Delaney Loucks

definitions:

Complementary medicine- treatments given along with allopathic treatment and not in place of it.

Holistic medicine- considers and treats the entire person who is sick, in difference to treating the medical condition or certain disease.

Alternative Medicine- other medical systems other than allopathic or traditional (conventional) western medicine

Allopathic medicine-aims to defend disease by using drugs or surgery which produce effects that are different from those of the disease being treated.

Allopathic vs. Holistic Medicine

Advantages:

Holistic- not as bad side effects

Allopathic- a little bit more scientific evidence, more believable

Disadvantages:

Holistic- not as safe, worse side effects

Allopathic- some people don't believe it, lack of scientific evidence
