MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We are very excited about our first #OneGP parent camp at Parcells tomorrow, March 2nd at 8:30 am. There is detailed information below about the event, and I was excited to see many Kerby families already signed up to attend. Many sessions are being offered ranging from screen time, unconscious bias, speech and language development, restorative practices and more.
I hope to see many Kerby families there!

#ONE GP PARENT CAMP - SATURDAY, MARCH 2, 2019
Dear Grosse Pointe Families,
We are excited to announce Grosse Pointe Public School System's inaugural parent camp event #OneGP Parent Camp: Empowering Parents with Information and Dialogue to Support the Children of our Community. It will be held at Parcells Middle School on Saturday, March 2nd from 8:30-12. A keynote speaker and breakout session on Unconscious Bias will be facilitated by Dr. Asha Shajahan. Dr. Shajahan is a board certified family physician from Beaumont Hospital. Other breakout session topics include: restorative practices, social media, cultural competency, bullying, suicide, early intervention, anxiety, trauma, vaping, special education, and more. The event will be a conference format with a 45 minute keynote session followed by two 55 minute breakout sessions where participants can attend the sessions of their own choosing.
Refreshments and childcare (to potty trained children) will be provided. Please click on this link to fill out the online preregistration for the event.
ONE SCHOOL ONE BOOK/MARCH IS READING MONTH

This Saturday, March 2nd at 1pm at Ewald, Ruth McNally Barshaw, Bailey Sisoy Isgro, and Kim Perez Valice will be sharing their books and excitement for reading! Each author will speak about their work and answer questions. Crafts will be available after the presentations and book sales will be provided by The Book Beat. This event is most appropriate for elementary age kids and up and their families, all are welcome! Registration is requested.
Ruth McNally Barshaw is an author, illustrator, cartoonist and expert daydreamer. Her work includes theEllie McDoodle series and Leopold The Lion, among many others.
Baily Sisoy Isgro is the owner of Detroit History Tours and author of Rosie, A Detroit Herstory, a story for young readers about women workers during World War II.
Kim Perez Valice is a resident of the Grosse Pointes, an animal lover and concerned citizen of our environment. Her book, The Orca Scientists, examines the endangered South Resident Orca Whales of the Pacific Northwest and scientists efforts to study and protect them.

- Please remember parking on Beaupre between the yellow lines by the fence are for KINDERGARTEN PARENTS ONLY that have a parking pass. Please abide by the rules. Thank you!
- Please send cash lunch money in an envelope if it is over $1.00 marked with child's name, date and amount. Chartwells wants to make sure all money is put on the correct students lunch account.
- When dropping items off at the office for your child, please remember to mark them with your child's name and teacher.
