BEAR BRANCH NEWS!!

Report Cards - Student report cards went home on Friday, January 8th. Parents are also welcome to log on to their parent portal account through TEAMS. Click here to create an account or log on. We are correcting the Kinder and 1st Grade grades for their specials (art, music, library, and PE). The students' grade is to reflect participation, not performance. You will see an E for excellent, S for satisfactory, or N for needs improvement.

Rodeo Art Show - On Saturday, January 9th, the District hosted its annual Rodeo Art Show. We want to thank our art teacher, Whitney Barker, for working with our 4th-grade participants. Congrats to Zachary Ignatiev for being selected as a Houston Livestock Rodeo Art finalist with his art piece. Listed below are the names of the MISD Rodeo Art participants from Bear Branch Elementary.

Teacher Shoutouts - Thanks to those that have taken the time to recognize your child's teacher. I know our teachers really appreciate the words of affirmation. We had 12 this week. Please keep them coming in! Click here to recognize your child's teacher.

Classroom Help - If you are interested in helping with future classroom events and/or activities, please complete this correspondence form so that PTO and our Room Moms can connect with you.

Staff Recognition for December

Teacher of the Month - Our Teacher of the Month is Jennifer Guerra. Mrs. Guerra is a dyslexia teacher at Bear Branch Elementary. This is Jennifer Guerra's 15th year of teaching. She was born and raised in Minnesota. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University. She began her career as a first-grade teacher at Worsham Elementary in Aldine ISD. She then moved to Smith Elementary in Magnolia ISD, where she taught first grade for three years and was a K-2 literacy coach for five years. She has two master's degrees. She obtained her first master's degree in Reading from Sam Houston State University, and her second master's degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. She has a passion for reading acquisition and dyslexia. “Learning how to read is an incredibly complex process. There are a lot of pieces that need to come together to achieve fluency in reading. My job is to help bridge those pieces together.”

She lives in the Klein area with her husband and 4-year-old daughter, Kennedy. They have a new puppy named Chewy, which keeps them very busy! Jennifer enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. She loves reading biographies and inspirational books. She also enjoys reading bedtime stories to Kennedy. She LOVES teaching and watching her students grow. She believes that building relationships is an integral part of teaching.

Staff of the Month - Our Staff of the Month is Patty Hutcherson. Patty is our Paraprofessional for In-class Support. She started working at Bear Branch Elementary in August 1995. She is married with 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter.

When asked to comment on what she likes most about BBE, she said, " I am blessed to be with Bear Branch Elementary. I enjoy going to many classrooms and helping each student. Every student is important to me. I encourage them to try their best because I believe that they can do it!"
