From Midwest Young Artists...
I am writing to ask you to encourage your students to audition for Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC) for next season during the month of April. We are currently scheduling auditions for all elementary, middle- and high-school students. We are looking for musicians on any instrument of any age who are interested in participating in MYAC during our school year program. We especially are looking for trombones, horns, bassoons, violas and basses. Please know we offer financial aid as well as merit scholarships for very advanced high school students.
MYA provides an opportunity for your students to grow even more outside the classroom and rehearsal so they can bring techniques and skills back with them and make your orchestras/bands/choruses sound even better! And as a reminder, MYAC requires students to participate in their school music programs, not something all other youth music programs require.
If you have a student of any level who you think would be interested in MYAC, please have them visit www.mya.org/audition to sign up. You, or they can always contact me with questions as well – allandennis@mya.org .
We are offering great summer options for students as well. We have revamped our jazz summer program with additional faculty and added incentives for students; have beefed up faculty for the Chicago Jazz Workshop; revised the offerings for the Chicago Flute Workshop; and will offer summer evening orchestras and jazz ensembles for students who remain in the area, might be going to summer school and still want to play on their instrument – no auditions necessary. For information about the summer programs, please visit https://mya.org/summer/
