A Message from the Principal
Greetings St. Anthony Catholic High School Community!
Our good, good Father continues to shine his light on our beautiful school. We have received a new donation from one of our parents that is going to be matched by their company, Wells Fargo in the amount of $10,000 as a total donation from a giving parent. We have 2 senior student athletes, Zach Sanchez and Victor Castillo that were nominated for the KSAT 12 Scholar Athletes of the week. See more information below and a picture of these honored students. We have 8 middle school tours scheduled for this month so far. We have middle school students signing up to take the practice HSPT on October 28 with us. Our football team won again this weekend and is now 4-0 along with our volleyball team winning again and now 30-3 record. We are thankful for these blessings and many more to come!
October is the month of the Rosary. Please send your child with a rosary on Tuesdays this month. We will be reciting decades of the Rosary every Tuesday. Our holy rosary embraces many in powerful prayer so we want to share this experience with our students.
The Athletic Department has created a specialty newsletter for Athletic information called 'The Jacket Buzz' which is distributed once a week. If you are not receiving 'The Jacket Buzz' and would like to receive the athletic newsletter, please email Athletic Director, Tony Marciano at marciano@uiwtx.edu or Assistant Athletic Director, Daniel Choate at choate@ad.uiwtx.edu.
Report cards will be going out soon. The grading periods ends on October 18 at 4pm. Please encourage your child to have all assignments submitted before this date. We also highly encourage tutoring which is available in every department before or afterschool. We also have the library open every day at 7:00am so students can complete homework or do research online. Every grade counts towards opportunities your child can receive in the future for college so we want to do everything we can to allow students to do well in school.
Each year students take the IOWA test in the Spring. We sent home the scores from the Spring of 2017 today. Your students should have received them in an envelope. I apologize about the delay in getting these scores sent home. In the future, you will receive them in the summer immediately following the test. We will discuss these results and more information about the test as we move through the year. If you have any specific questions about the IOWA test and the results, please contact your child's counselor.
Please make sure your child is at school by 7:50am to allow for a smooth start of the day. Chapel begins promptly at 8:00am. We have had quite a few students with accumulating tardies. We understand that various situations arise on the way to school so we can understand the rare occurrence of tardies. Students are expected to be sitting in chapel no later than 8:00am. Please encourage your child to be at school on time as much as possible. If you have special situations occur, please contact Mr. Baker at rlbaker@uiwtx.edu.
On Wednesday, October 11 we will be administering the PSAT test for 9th, 10th and 11 graders along with the SAT test for 12th graders. Please encourage your child to get a good night's rest and eat a healthy breakfast for optimal energy. In addition, students will have to turn in their cell phones to their teachers during the test so we encourage students to make sure their phones are turned off or leave them at home. On regular school days, cell phones are not to be used during the school day. Please help us keep cell phones turned off during the day and put away by reminding your students of the school policy.
On October 28, we have a football game at 2:00pm AND we are asking our students to bring a middle schooler to the game to promote and recruit for SACHS. ALL students will get in FREE and we are hoping to have a KONA Ice Snow Cone Truck. Students who bring a middle school student will receive a FREE snow cone along with their guests they bring.
We have joined with Amazon.com to utilize as a fundraiser for SACHS. We get .5% of qualifying purchases so if you shop on Amazon, please use the following link https://smile.amazon.com/ch/20-0234338. We have raised over $125 for SACHS with this link so it works! Shop on AMAZON and help SACHS.
Gracious Father, thank You for Your goodness you provide to St. Anthony Catholic High School. You built this school and we ask for Your direction as we move forward to fertilize Your Holy Ground. We ask that You bless the homes of Your beautiful children you have brought to us. We ask that You bless all the people You have given us to support Your calling as we teach Your children. In Jesus Name, Amen.
"He who abides in me and I in him will bear much fruit." John 15:5
May your life be blessed!

October 25, 2017- 1st Annual Catholic Schools Solidarity Day 2017
On October 25, 2017, we ask that all students and SACHS wear orange to stand in solidarity against bullying. The Booster Club will be selling these shirts for $10 beginning this week to wear on this special day.
Wear ORANGE on Solidarity Day 2017!
Did you know that…
More than 1 out of every 5 students report being bullied?
In celebration of National Unity Day, Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio will observe Solidarity Day on Wednesday, October 25th in an effort to join schools across the United States in solidarity against bullying and united for kindness, compassion, and acceptance.
National Bullying Prevention Month is a nationwide campaign founded in 2006 by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center. The campaign is held during the month of October and unites communities around the world to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention.
Make it ORANGE and make it end! What are your true colors when it comes to showing that you care about preventing bullying? Come together in one giant message of hope and support, wear and share orange to color our nation, and even the world, visibly showing that our society believes that no child should be bullied.
Unity Day is sponsored by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. https://www.pacer.org/bullying/
Saturday, October 14, FREE PRACTICE ACT TEST
We will be offering a FREE ACT Practice Test this Saturday, October 14 from 11:00am-3:30pm. This is a great way to allow students to share their skills in a different way that presented on the SAT test. The ACT test might be a better option for your child. Have them take the practice test and see which test they score better. We will continue to use these results through the year to help us prepare and plan for an increase in scores for more college opportunities.
