Beginning Of The Year Assessments
Dear Raider Families,
Next week we begin assessing students to gather important information regarding their skills and instructional levels in Reading, Writing, Math and Science. Teachers will use this data to plan for small group instruction and create plans for Raider Time tutorials which will begin as soon as testing data can be analyzed.
We will utilize these data points to help plan for enrichment, acceleration, and interventions. What gaps do students have from last year or from the summer? The BOY is just one of the data points used this year. It will also provide an opportunity for students to interact with the new testing platform. The more students are familiar with the online environment the better they will do on future online assessments. The BOY is formatted on the same blueprint as our state (STAAR) assessments.
Please encourage your students to get lots of rest, eat a good breakfast and come prepared to do their best on these assessments next week. Also remind them that they will need their fully-charged, district-issued Chromebook for these assessments. All tests must be taken on these devices next week, not personal devices. See below for more Chromebook reminders.
I hope everyone enjoys the Labor Day Holiday Weekend! Remember...no school on Monday, so enjoy that extra time with your family.
Go Raiders!

Chromebook 411
Personal devices may not be used during class for assessments since the testing application is only loaded onto district devices. We have a very limited supply of campus Chromebooks for students to borrow, should their device experience technical issues on the day of these tests. It is critical all students remember to bring their devices next week.
We appreciate your help and support in reminding students of these expectations.
