Progress Reports!!
We monitor our students through a standards based grading system. What this means, is that we will monitor where your child progression through each individual standard. This is accomplished through a series of activities/quizzes, we give that will determine your students mastery of the standard.
They are given a "1", which is below basic (however, we call it not there YET), "2" is approaching grade level, a "3" is at grade level, or a "4" which is above grade level or advanced. Any student can, and should be, at any time be on any end of this spectrum.
These grades (1-4) converts in the grade book to the following format
1 = 63
2 = 75
3 = 88
4 = 100
This grade is fluid and is always a work in progress and can be redefined as your child continues to grow towards mastery of the standards. What this mean is that if your student is a level "1", we will continue to re-teach and work with them in a small group setting as we work through the struggles together.
Progress reports went home today. In most classes only 1 or 2 standards have been assessed, this may be the reason some of the progress reports might not be what you are used to seeing out of your student. Please know that if your student is not where they need to be on any topic we will continue to work towards mastery and improvement. As they improve, so will their grade.
This is only a progress report, a glimpse into what is going on.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact anyone of us on the team.
