Writing- Next week students will be typing the narrative story that they have spent time working on. Throughout the typing process, students will edit their work. Once their story is typed, they will do final revision and editing to complete their final draft.
Coming across figurative language while reading can be tricky. This week students worked on noticing figurative language in their reading and using clues to determine what the author meant.
Point of View
Today in Reader's Workshop, students thought about how characters can feel differently about an event in the story.
Groups of students practiced reader's theater scripts and performed in front of the class. These are used as a way to build fluency.
Point of View
We needed an extra day to finish up work on our first unit, so we will be taking the unit 1 post assessment on Monday. Students will then reflect on their graded test to set a goal of what they need to work on for the week. For the remainder of the week, students will focus on practice work to reinforce or deepen their understanding of skills practiced throughout the unit.
IXL categories to practice:
- Estimation & Rounding
- Time (T.1-T.7)
- Bedtime Math
- Next Week is Red Ribbon Week. A note came home in your Child's Friday Folder with more information. Each day has a different theme and students are encouraged to participate in the spirit days.
- Students should work on the weekly reading log and fact fluency packet throughout the week and return it to school next Friday.
- Study hall is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week. Students must bring a permission slip each day that they plan to stay.
