NWEA + Fully IPAD Charged = :-)
Parents, we need your help! We started testing for NWEA this week and next week we will continue testing for NWEA and your child needs the following to aid in a successful NWEA experience: We won't be testing on Monday, but we will start up again on Tuesday!
1. Fully Charged iPads Daily - Please make sure your child's iPad is FULLY charged every evening for everyday
2. R & R - with the sun staying out later and later, please help us this week by getting us a little more rest and relaxation
3. Breakfast - to fully charge our brains for to operate the best for NWEA, a little something to eat in the morning should do the trick!
Thank you, parents, for doing all you do - each and everyday - to ensure that we are always at our best!
A Message From Global Studies
Hola!
We are continuing to have a great time learning Spanish while singing, dancing, collaborating, creating and playing in Global Studies!
Between May 6th and May 24th, the students will have an opportunity to sample roasted plantain chips during one of their Global Studies classes. The ingredients in the chips are plantains, sunflower oil, and salt. Pictures and additional information about the product can be found below. If you do not want your child to sample the plantain chips, please complete the Participation OPT-OUT form and respond ASAP!
¡Gracias!

Eating in the Cafeteria
May 20th-24th (the last week of school) has a variety of memory making experiences taking place, so our lunch schedules may be off a bit. If you'd like to join your child for lunch this year, please plan on joining us on or before May 16th!
Reusable containers
Hi TCE Cardinals!
Did you know that bringing reusable containers for your daily snack and in your lunchbox is better than using plastic baggies? We have learned that plastic
baggies take 500-1,000 years to decompose. We are recycling the plastic baggies, but bringing a reusable container is better for the Earth! Try to use more
reusable containers than plastic baggies.
Thank you for helping us change the world by reducing one plastic baggie at a time!

Word Study
Repeated Sort: Students will sort their words. Then check their words using the answer key. Then sort their words again!
Draw and Label: Students choose 10 of their words. Then they will draw a picture of each world and label it.
Blind Sort: Using given guide words, or headers, students spell or write in words in the correct category as a partner calls each word aloud without showing it.
Writing Sort: Students write their words under the correct category.
Speed Sort: Students sort words quickly under the correct categories (use a timer to see how fast they can do it!) Students love to beat records and to set goals for themselves.
Word Hunt: Students hunt through their own reading and writing for words that are additional examples of the sound, pattern, or meaning unit they study!
Buddy Sort: Using the given headers, students sort their words with a partner, then discuss. They will then check their work with their answer key.
