Grading Policy and Practice Regional Panel Discussion

Description:


This session is designed for both teachers and administrators to learn more about best practices with grading and how to do so in an online learning environment. The panelists will share best practices with grading and suggestions for how to grade remotely during the panel discussion. Participants will then have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss.

Self Care

Remembering Our Needs: Self-Care During COVID-19

Description:


This training, provided by The Children's Institute will give participants the space to focus on their own needs and self-care, reminding them to be kind and gentle with themselves and each other and to remember that self-care is an individual journey that looks different for each one of us. This training will acknowledge the numerous challenges of this uncertain, unprecedented time, acknowledge cultural and historical disparities in the self-care narrative, encourage and support participants to identify their needs, and explore self-care strategies.

All things ELA

Prioritizing ELA Standards in the time of COVID

Description:


Join us for this collaborative (Monroe 2 and Monroe 1) session, where we will:

• explore the research-based rationale for prioritizing standards
• overview the process for prioritizing ELA standards with the COVID situation in mind
• collaboratively apply the prioritizing process to Next Generation Reading Standards as a model for work in districts
• overview the vertical alignment process

Participants will gain an understanding of the criteria for prioritizing that may immediately be used with grade level groups to prioritize.

This training will be held at 2 different times. Select the session that works with your schedule.

Based on interest, there will be follow up sessions offered for grade level teams seeking to prioritize with some guidance AND sessions for vertical alignment across grade levels with vertical teams.

Become an ELA Curriculum Change Agent!

Description:


In this hybrid course, connect and collaborate with colleagues from across the region who are committed to impacting literacy teaching and learning. Participants in this workshop will anchor into NYSED's Guide for Aligning Local Curricula to the Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards 3-12. We will take a deep dive into the document, ensuring that participants have an insightful understanding of the embedded concepts and ideas

Participants will have an opportunity to solicit feedback from colleagues regarding existing units after the course concludes utilizing the discussion forum in Schoology.

Materials will be made available via Schoology by Friday, May 29 (participants do need Schoology accounts to access the materials and can create an individual FREE account at a Schoology.com. Their schools/districts do not need to be using Schoology in order for individuals to join M2 Schoology courses.) utilizing an interactive presentation, discussion forum, and outside links and resources.

Collaborative discussion and collaboration follow-up via Zoom on June 3.
