Boys Bowling Advances to State Semifinals
For the second consecutive year, the Hewitt-Trussville Boys Bowling team advanced to the state semifinals. The Huskies competed in the state tournament last week in Gadsden.
The Huskies finished as the #7 seed after qualifying on Thursday. Coach Tommy Abney's team opened Friday's play against #2 seed Sparkman. The match went all the way to game seven and the Huskies prevailed 4-3.
HT fell in the state semifinals to eventual champion Spain Park by the score of 4-2. The Huskies finished the season with a 15-7 overall record.
This marked the fourth straight season HT made it to the state tournament. The Huskies have advanced to the semifinals three times in the last four seasons.

Indoor Track & Field Set to Compete for a State Title
Coach Tom Esslinger will lead HT Indoor Track & Field to the Birmingham Crossplex on Saturday as state champions are crowned. The Huskies won the Boys Indoor and Girls Indoor state titles in 2021.
The 7A meet will begin at 3pm. Awards are set to be given at approximately 8:35pm. The schedule of events can be viewed here:

Basketball Finishes Regular Season This Week

Hewitt-Trussville Basketball will be at home on Tuesday night and Friday night this week as the regular season comes to an end.
On Tuesday, the HT Girls will take on Plainview at 6pm and the HT Boys will play Mountain Brook at 7:30pm.
On Friday, the HT Girls will play Mortimer Jordan at 6pm and the HT Boys will host Clay-Chalkville at 7:30pm.

Wrestling to Host "Theatre Match" on Wednesday Night

HTHS Wrestling will honor its Seniors on Wednesday night prior to the final regular season event. The Huskies will take on Helena at 7pm. Wednesday's match will be held in the HTHS Theatre for the first time ever.
Next week, the Huskies will travel to the Crossplex for the AHSAA 7A North Sectional.

HT Wrestling Schedule/Results:
Boys Soccer to Open Season Thursday
HT Boys Soccer will open the 2022 season on Thursday as they particpoate in the Lakeshore Shootout. The Huskies will meet Indian Springs on Thursday, Mountain Brook on Friday, and Chelsea on Saturday.
The Huskies will play at home for the first time on February 15.

Girls Soccer Opens Season at Home Friday

Hewitt-Trussville Girls Soccer will begin the 2022 season on Friday when they host Bob Jones. The HT Girls will play at home for the first three contests of the season.

Hannah O'Kelley is Area Bryant-Jordan Representative
HTHS Senior Hannah O'Kelley will be the 7A Area 6 representative for the Bryant-Jordan Achievement Award.
O'Kelley will now be in regional and state competition leading up to the Bryant-Jordan Awards dinner in April.

HTMS Wrestling Wins Metro Championship
Another banner is going up in the HTMS gym! This weekend the MS Wrestling team won the Metro Championship.
The Huskies finished with 169.5 points which was 16.5 points more than Thompson. Oak Mountain was 3rd with 132 points.

HT Highlights:
*Deuce Alston won his weight class and scored 24 team points
*Nathan Mullinax, Brady Ryan, Ian Hodgin, and Joshua Moore all finished 2nd in their weight classes
*Camden Hanks, Gavin Bittle, and Braxton Reaves all finished 3rd in their weight classes
*Karter Burke and Zane Jones finished 4th in their weight classes
8th Grade Boys Basketball Finishes at Metro Runner Up
The 8th Grade Boys Basketball team had an outstanding run at the Metro Tournament last week and finished as the runner up.
The Huskies opened the tournament with a 51-29 win over Oak Mountain. That win sent HT to the quarterfinals for a matchup with Bumpus. The Huskies again advanced with a 45-34 win.
In the semifinals, HT took on the top seeded Homewood Patriots. The Huskies used some great late game play to win 57-56. In the championship game, the Huskies fell to Mountain Brook by the score of 44-41.
Dylan Cope and Caden Ali made the All-Tournament Team.

Youth Track & Field Opportunity
Rec Runners – register now thru February 20th.
The Rec Runner program introduces track and field to runners at an early age. Runners will have the opportunity to learn several events and participate in track meets throughout the season. Meets will be held on Saturdays. Meets are as follows:
March 26th/April 2nd/May 14th/May 21st
