Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students

There is a Year 1 Bake Sale fundraiser this Friday. Please note that assembly will begin at 1.30pm on this day.

Year 6 Exhibition

Congratulations to the year six students for their very successful Exhibition, which was shared last Thursday. Feedback received has been extremely positive, as was the connection made to the 17 United Nations, Sustainable Development Goals that helped our students look at positive ways we can take action, which will impact on the future.

We were all very impressed with how confident and articulate the students were as they willingly and passionately shared their learning through their poetry, freeze frames and at their exhibits. They were highly reflective as they shared successes, challenges and areas they would change if they did it again. Year six students should be very proud of the part they are already playing in making a difference. They were very inspirational! Thank you to all the staff involved for everything you did to support the learning and thinking along the way.

The Hall Redevelopment

We are excited with the final plans for our new school hall. As you know this is a massive project, taking over 6 months to complete. We have spent many hours on design to ensure this space will be a multi-functional space for PE and performance. The plans are now at tender stage and the project will definitely be going ahead. As a community we have collaborated to fundraise extraordinary amounts of money for such a small school and it will be such a proud moment for us all when we unveil the hall in January 2017. This space is going to transform learning opportunities for your children, as the classrooms, the library and the playgrounds have done so already. It is hugely exciting. We will have a special opening to thank you and to celebrate with you all. You can access some of the plans, concept ideas and sketch-ups by clicking on this link. Thank you again for your tremendous contributions in helping support our fundraising efforts.

Kind regards

The PTA is holding a Type-a-thon with the aim to improve the accuracy and technique of touch typing skills for all of our students. If children would also like to collect sponsorship whilst doing so, that would be terrific! All money raised will go towards the redevelopment of our new school hall.

Glenealy staff will launch the Type-a-thon at assembly this Friday and then all details will be sent home in hard copy on Monday. We have made it very clear and easy to follow with great links to on-line typing sites to assist the children with their practice. The focus will be on technique and accuracy rather than speed. The library staff will go through these sites and techniques with your child next week.

Please help your child by encouraging them to meet their typing practice goal over the ten days they select in May. Opportunities will also be given for students to practice at school. Please look out for more details on Monday.

Thank you in advance for your support for this initiative of raising proficiency of touch-typing and for contributing to this final fundraiser for the School Hall.

Being Green

Let's see more of Glenealy being Green!

Are you green? Have you recycled this week? Are you energy efficient ? Do you pack a package free lunch box ? Do you save water ? Do you use a reusable bag to shop? Do you always take a water bottle with you on a walk ?

Green Week - Catch me being green photo competition

Ask a family member to take a photo of you doing something green – somewhere, anywhere!

You can get ‘caught’ taking action.

You could be recycling, on a beach clean up...anything!

The winners will be announced during Green Week.
