Instructional Focus:
I hope that everyone was able to enjoy the well-deserved time off from work!
December seems to always be such a whirlwind with SO much going on, and I know that was especially true for us this year with all of the PD that was offered. I know that we all took many good ideas away from Wendy and Crystal's trainings. After having some time to "digest" the information, it's time to put it into practice for our students.
Please know that it is one of my core values that everyone (teachers, support staff, and myself) is a learner. In order for something to be truly learned, it needs to be put into practice. I also know that the first few tries are not going to be successful and I am 100% ok with that! Often times, failure is the initial step in learning. To help remind myself of this (as I am a recovering perfectionist), I have a sign in my office that says "Mistakes are proof that you are trying." Let's try something new this first week, even if we are afraid!
Let's make 2019 an incredible year for our professional growth!
Ready Gen Training Dates:
Kindergarten: 1/14
First: 1/29
Second: 1/31
Third: 2/7
Fourth: 2/12
Sixth: 2/21
Again, this is a "soft roll out," so only those that "need to know" will be trained in the first round (that's why fifth grade is not there-he's already been trained). No one is expected to be an expert after this training; however, you should have a good idea on what the program offers and how to navigate the materials.
Also, you are not expected to be teaching from this the day after you come back. We will talk about this more at upcoming meetings.
Lastly, note that during January and February there about 60 substitutes needed a day to train the entire district on this curriculum. If you can move an appointment around, please do, as subs will be difficult to come by.
SMART Goal Submission Dates:
- January 30
- February 27
- April 10
