Mrs. Finch's Class News

Vol. 1, Issue 17

Week of February 8th-12th, 2016

In preparation for our Valentine's Day Party this Friday, we are making our valentine's boxes in class. Our room mom was able to purchase supplies from party money and she collected enough cereal boxes for everyone in the class. A big thank you is in order here! Thank you Mrs. Clark!

I have spent some time wrapping boxes so that the kiddos can personalize them this week. See picture to the left.

This makes one less thing you as a parent/guardian have to worry about and it allows us to have a little class fun.

Please send your child's valentine cards addressed to each classmate to school by Friday morning. A class list of names was sent home on Friday.

Have a wonderful week!

Congratulations to Noelle Jones

She is the first to master the addition facts in Xtra Math and is well on her way in subtraction. We login to Xtra Math or Fast Math daily to increase fact fluency.

Practice Math Facts At Home

Please be sure your child is practicing math facts and reading at home. Easy ways to practice facts are through educational apps or Xtra Math,

and Fast Math programs that can be found on my teacher web page. Every student has a personal login to access these math facts sites.

Your child also has access to the computer lab every morning beginning at 7:20. If you don't have access to a computer at home take advantage of this opportunity.

Computer Lab Is Open Every Morning

The computer lab is open every morning for your child to spend extra time practicing math fact fluency and Istation reading. What a great way to continue learning.

The lab opens every morning beginning at 7:20AM. Instead of sitting in the gym and waiting for the bell to ring this would be a great way for many to use this time.

Also, if you want to avoid the longer carpool lines, drop your child off earlier so he or she can take advantage of this computer lab time.

ClassDojo has launched a new video series: Big Ideas teaching children growth mindset. Check out these three wonderful videos that we have seen (videos 1, 2, and 3) and will see (video 4) in class on Monday.

I love that the kiddos know that a new video is released each Sunday and they ask to see it as soon as they get to school on Monday morning. You know these videos have an impact when this happens.

GoNoodle: Great Way to Learn and Stay Active

We also engage in GoNoodle activities daily. The kiddos love it! This is a free web site sponsored by Cook Children's. Please check it out! It would be great if you chose to sign up, too. You know it's something good when the boys and girls ask how to join are have joined and are using it at home.

Our school attendance goal is 98% every day. We want to do our part.

Our class goal for 2016 is to have 0 tardies for one full week, Monday thru Friday. As every school day counts, so does being at school on time. We are still hoping to meet this goal for the first time.

Last week's attendance results: Tardies more that doubled.

Tardies--7 (previous week: 2)
