TYPE OF MUSIC
Pop Latino is named so because it is pop music with a latin background. It is mostly listed to in Latin America, Latin Europe and the US. People associated with this genre are Latinos.
HISTORY OF THE MUSIC
The origin of this genre is in the US actually, due to the production of many new instruments such as the synthesizer. There many Hispanic and European influences for this style.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MUSIC
Latin pop is usually upbeat and modern. There is a wide range of instruments; the spanish guitar, accordion, bass, drums, keyboard, trumpet, trombone, piano, claves, and cowbell. Latin Pop is usually what is on the radio, and what teens listen to. There are no significant costumes for this genre. Early Latin pop artists include Selena, Leonel GarcĂa, Gian Marco, and more. (they are pictured below in order.)
CONNECTION TO DANCE
There are many dances for this genre. They mostly involve the fast movement of the hips and quick steps of the feet.
THE MUSIC TODAY
Latino Pop is very popular in America and Europe today. It is very likely that you've heard if Shakira (above), an artist of the genre. She has written many hits, such as "Hips Don't Lie" which is composed of English and Spanish.
