Message from the Principal
I hope you had a restful break. There was no better way to go on break than to get the results of the FCAT Reading retakes and finding out that 14 out of 21 seniors had passed. Thank you to Joann Cassio for all her work in preparing the students for this critical exam. Going into the Spring semester this is the best year ever with the number of students needing to pass the FCAT reading.
It is hard to believe but we have only three weeks before winter break and what a busy three weeks it will be with the various groups coming to campus as well as the holiday traditions that take place.
- On December 3rd and 4th LWTC will have its 3rd accreditation visit for the year with a team on campus evaluating the Medical Assisting program. Maureen Tea, Fay Warfield and Eileen Schoenknecht have spent several months preparing for the visit.
- LWTC/LWTHS will have a tent at the 41st Annual Christmas Walk and Tree Lighting on 5th on December 3rd, 5:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
- Over 180 staff and students have signed up to walk at the CCPS Run/Walk on December 5th at the MLK Administration building. In addition we will have massage therapy students giving free massages and nursing students doing blood pressure checks.
- LWTC/LWTHS will have a group of staff and students handing out candy and school information at the Naples Christmas Parade on December 8th.
- The 5th grade elementary tours kick off with about 130 Golden Gate Elementary students visiting on December 9th.
- Every year the District hosts a Legislative Appreciation Luncheon at a school and this year LWTC/LWTHS has been selected as the site. On December 11th we will have the legislative delegation which includes Representative Kathleen Passidomo and Senator Garrett Richter as well as CCPS School Board members, Superintendent Patton and members of her cabinet.
- The Angel Gift Tree has been a tradition on our campus for many years. The Angel Gift Tree is to ensure that all the children of our students have a wonderful holiday season. Angie Imbriale put up the tree in the LWTC last week and she will be emailing information about the Angel Gift Tree.
- Ugly sweater day - Lynne Bruce and Laurie Lattarulo have coordinated this event for the past three years and I think Stephanie Scott has been the winner all three years. You will hear more about this event in the near future.
- Ornament Exchange - Fay Warfield and the Sunshine Club will be sending out information regarding the this tradition.
- The Annual Potluck Holiday Luncheon will be held on Friday, December 18th at 11:30 a.m. in Dining Room A and B. Bring your favorite dish and enjoy the company of your colleagues before heading off for the winter break,

Spotlight on LWTHS Staff Member
Sabrina Medal handles all aspects of attendance for the high school. However she may be best known for being the mother to FIVE daughters! One of her daughters is a current high school student and her youngest attended Learning Partners. Sabrina spends a lot of her free time as a volleyball “Team Mom.” She loves working with the students and considers the high school to be like a family. Sabrina is hard working and dedicated. We are so lucky to have her at our school!

It is hard to imagine that Tony Singleton has any time beyond testing and teaching, but he has been an avid golfer since the 4th grade and even has a letter! Tony loves to fish and also has been a baseball coach. Tony is a well respected teacher, even by FAA standards! Any plane he or a student repairs would definitely exceed safety expectations. He is highly conscientious and loves to see his students succeed. One of his greatest accomplishments is starting the Aviation Program at our school. Tony has two grandchildren ages 14 and 17. He would live south of San Diego if he could, where the weather is temperate and there is always low humidity. Qualified A and P instructors are so difficult to find-we are so lucky to have found Tony.
Kudos
Kudos to the following instructors who promoted their programs at the Career Fair on Thursday night: Michael Barry, Jack Izbicki, Chris Fowler, Tony Singleton, Ben Kurke, Bruce Peters, Lori Mitchell, Pam Wilkin, Tanya Solt and Kirk Jervis. The event was a huge success with over 200 students in attendance. It was a great opportunity to reach out to potential students!
Rick Ponton for helping with the video taping of the "Leaders for Life" Take Stock in Children surprise event for one of our students on Friday.
Rita Kentros for being our Laws of Life school contact. Our finalists have been chosen for LWTHS!
Sue James for having her 11th graders take part in the Laws of Life essay contest. It is the first time that our juniors have participated as a class assignment.
Joann Cassio for her outstanding work in preparing senior students for the FCAT Reading retakes.
Happy Birthday
