Dear Ayers Families,
Tomorrow is the big day! We are excited to be back together with our students and families and begin this new year together. During the spring, we came together as a community as we worked in a crisis schooling mode. This fall as we kick off the year we are fully integrated for distance learning with standards based instruction including attendance, whole group instruction, small group instruction, vocal and instrumental music, library, related services for speech and occupational therapy, and assessments. This school year will be very different from how we ended the 2019-2020 school year. That being said, we know that the first few days will have bumps along the way as we all learn to navigate our new world of education but we will work together to smooth the road. To help us launch the year off right our teachers will be hosting virtual Back To Night this week. Please refer to the schedule below for your class time.
During the first few weeks, teachers will focus on whole class instruction, team building, and assessments. This will provide them the necessary information to form small groups and work on individual and small group needs. Small groups will be added to the schedule as this information is gathered. Please check your email accounts for an additional class specific email (subject: Ayers Classroom Schedule) with your class’s schedule and zoom meeting information. These are private Ayers documents. In the interest of student security, please do not share these links outside of your class. If you need to share a schedule with others outside of our community, you may share the public versions linked here. These schedules were also posted in individual Konstella classrooms.
Technology is the biggest question mark many of us have for day one. We have added a Technology Tips link on our school website with many frequently asked questions. This section is constantly being updated to address new questions you may have. Please check it frequently. Please make sure your child can access their Clever account before class so that they can access zoom and Seesaw or Google Classroom. If after reading the technology tips your child is still having trouble accessing their mdusd.net account please request a password reset on our Ayers website. Please note: This is not an automatic process. It must be hand done individually and you may not receive a reset before the following school day.
If you have not already added yourself to your child’s Konstella classroom please do so at Konstella.com. Konstella is a wonderful resource for parents to communicate and help each other out with questions. While the teachers do check in on Konstella and post resources and newsletters they will not monitor their Konstella page during class instruction as they will be busy with your children. The best way to contact your child’s teacher is via email.
It may not be what we are used to but this is going to be an exciting one for us all. Together we can make this a wildly successful year!
