A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal

Happy Sunday Longhorns,

I hope you have had an amazing Spring Break! I know that the sun was hiding for a few days but we definitely finished strong with some beautiful weather and plenty of sunshine, I hope you were able to soak some of it in this weekend, as we all know Vitamin D is good for the body, mind, and soul!

With so many of our Longhorn families traveling over the break and finally being able to see extended family and friends, it will be even MORE important that you are following the mask (properly worn of over the nose and mouth) and other safety protocols that we have had in place all year. I am fully aware that there will probably be a small spike when we come back, but with everyone doing their part to be responsible and choosing to protect ourselves and each other this should be small. I appreciate your support and help in keeping our campus running as smooth as possible so that our Longhorns can enjoy the extra curricular activities and special events that we will be closing out the year with.

Graduation Good News!

Seniors will be getting 8 tickets and 2 parking passes for graduation. If you hear that some of the other LCISD campuses are getting 10, that is correct....but you have to keep in mind that our Senior Class of 2021 is 699...almost 150 more than the next largest campus. We require more seating, and LCISD's COVID safety protocols are still in effect. To put this in perspective, the Class of 2020 only got 4 tickets per graduate, and the Class of 2019 only got 9, so I was ecstatic to hear that we be able to give each senior 8! #winning

COVID Protocol Reminder:

Lamar CISD is NOT adjusting any of its COVID-19 safety protocols, including the requirement to wear face coverings in all facilities. With GRHS housing 2,000 people on a daily basis, maintaining proximity of 6 feet apart at all times is just not possible, even with the staggered class changes, one way stairways, and reduced cafe table seating. Masks and social distancing protocols are STILL in place! Keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols to the best of our ability. We can't completely control COVID, but we can definitely slow the spread down, and that is A LOT! Any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn affect their semester exam exemptions. Let's all do our part to keep GR the PLACE to be... especially for those of us CHOOSING to be face to face.

Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.
