Science Chapter 11 Lesson 2
Newtons Law of Universal Gravitation
Newtons Law of Universal Gravitation says all planets , stars, and the Sun all exert the force of gravity
Force
A force is any push or pull on an object. Example: Pushing in a chair
Momentum
Momentum measures the mass and speed of an object.
Gravity
Gravity is the force holding us dow to the ground. Different planets have different amounts of gravitational pull.
Mass
Mass is determined by how much mass an object has.
Newtons 3 Laws
Newtons 1st Law
An object in motion will tend to stay in motion, and an object at motion will stay in motion unless a force acts on it. Ex: A book left on the table in the morning will be there when you come back.
Newtons 2nd Law
The acceleration of an object depends on the strength of the force acting on it and the objects mass. Ex: Throwing a base ball and then throwing a ping pong ball. What one will go farther
Newtons 3rd law
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Ex: A balloon flying with air coming out the back pushing it
Fun Gravity Fact: A skydiver feels weightless because they can't feel the upward force of the ground.
Force and Acceleration
If Force increases, then the acceleration increases ; if the mass increases, then the acceleration decreases.
