Class of 2024
To submit their FAFSA, students and a parent must first create an account and acquire their Federal Student Aid ID. To do so, students must go to studentaid.gov and follow the steps to create an account. Creating an account beforehand will ensure a smoother process when completing the 2024-25 FAFSA which opens on December 31.

The Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) announced that the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will open by December 31, 2023. This 2024-25 FAFSA FAQ video is a helpful resource about the FAFSA 2024-25 changes; this shows How to Create an Account and Username (FSA ID). Review this handout for steps you can take now to prepare for the 2024-25 FAFSA application.
Letters of Recommendation: Reminder to check your application deadlines for colleges and scholarships. We work while you work. For an application deadline of January 15, 2024, request your letters from teachers by January 2, 2024, and from Ms. Peters by December 11. As a reminder, here are the steps to request letters. Last week, sophomores completed the Personality inventory in Naviance. Achieve Works Personality® helps you identify your personality type by asking you to choose scenarios that best represent how you behave in real life. Parents and guardians can see the results of these inventories via the family Naviance log-in under Self-Discovery. Nominate Your Favorite Teacher
Everyone has a favorite teacher. Nominate your favorite teacher for the Teachers First Award where one teacher a month will be honored as an outstanding teacher in the community. Winning teachers receive $500 for classroom supplies and a $100 gift card to Urban Egg or Salsa Brava. Nominate a teacher here.

Scholarships, Awards and Other Financial Aid Information
St. Edward’s is offering up to $30k in scholarships. Students should complete their application by January 1 to be added to the top of their review list, secure the best financial aid package, and receive an early admission decision. Plus, they will waive the $50 application fee.
Educating Children of Color is excited to return to an in-person event on January 13th, 2024, at Colorado College. The event is free for 8th to 12th graders, college students, and parents. In addition to amazing content, ECOC will be awarding $91,000 in scholarships. To be eligible for the scholarships, students must attend the 2024 Summit. The deadline for scholarships and registration is 12/15/2023.
These scholarships are for students who are currently involved in their high schools and communities. The deadline for the Ambassador Program is January 10, 2024 and the deadline for the Involvement Scholarship is February 1, 2024.

Johnson & Wales University is looking to identify the next generation of culinary leaders through their Future Food Scholarship Competition. Participants could earn scholarship funds toward their JWU education, and the top 10 applicants will travel to campus to showcase their recipes. Deadline to apply is January 15, 2024.
Ohio Wesleyan is offering a FAFSA Filer Award for students who file the FAFSA by February 1 - each student will receive this $1,000 stackable award (it is also renewable each year that the student files).
The Medallion scholarship at Western Michigan University is among the largest merit-based scholarship programs in American higher education and is valued at approximately $90,920 over the course of four years. To be considered for the Medallion scholarship, students must complete their application to the University by the Early Action Deadline of December 15.
