Hello Anna ISD Families
We understand this is a difficult time for all of us. As we navigate through the impact of COVID, we will continue to meet with educators in North Texas, work with TEA, the Collin County Health Department, and monitor the CDC website. This has been a very delicate balancing act in trying to keep our students and families safe while providing the best educational opportunities we can. We share in your frustrations, fears, and also have many unanswered questions. Often, we make a plan based on the most current information, knowing that we must remain flexible as plans change based on rising positive cases, TEA, or CDC changes. We are working collaboratively with parents, teachers, and district leaders to solicit feedback, make decisions, and provide support all with your child’s best interest at the forefront.
We have created a COVID-19 Dashboard that will continue to provide you with the number of current positive cases within Anna ISD. We will update this information every school day by 3:30 PM. The COVID-19 Dashboard is located on the homepage of our district website.
Currently, our district has a total of 22 positive COVID cases. Out of an abundance of caution, students and staff that may have been exposed by proximity are under quarantine, as well. We continue to look for ways to improve or adjust our current COVID protocols, which will hopefully help to prevent the spread of COVID in our school setting.
As positive cases for COVID are increasing in our area, we’d like to take this opportunity to ask that you reinforce a few precautions with your child(ren).
Masks should cover the mouth AND nose
Wash hands thoroughly and frequently
Avoid touching the face
Continue to monitor your child for symptoms before sending them to school
If a member of your household has a positive diagnosis of COVID, children in the family will need to be quarantined
Monitor your child’s extracurricular activities to ensure they are following safety protocols
As a reminder, masks are required to be worn by all 4th - 12th students. Masks are not required for students in prekindergarten - 3rd grade. However, to prevent the spread of COVID and to minimize entire class quarantines, we strongly encourage you to consider sending our youngest students with masks, as well.
The health and safety of our staff, students, and their families is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the trends of positive cases within our district and may adjust our current educational setting accordingly.
Please remember our situation remains fluid and we will continue to evaluate the best course for our students and staff.
